Receiver Hitch

I want to put a receiver hitch on the bumper of my camper. I have a cargo carrier that I want to use for gas cans. Any recommendations for a after market receiver/ are the bolt on models strong enough for what I want to put on the carrier?

Thanks

My suggestion is don’t use the bumper. The bumpers are thin, and rated for 75-100lbs. If your spare is mounted there, it’s probably close to maxed out. The specific gravity of unleaded gasoline varies between 0.70 - 0.78 (the colder it is, the denser it becomes). So, 5 gallons of gasoline will weigh in the 33-37lb range. That means around 35-40lbs per gas can, plus the weight of the mount, plus the weight of the cargo carrier.
I don’t know how old your coach is, but you could also be voiding your frame warranty by doing this.
Etrailer has frame mounted(bolt and weld applications), and that’s the only safe way to go. I’ve also seen talk of stronger bumpers, but never seen one for sale anywhere.

I’d get a frame mount hitch, there are ones sold on Amazon by Curt and a few other manufacturers.
I bought the Curt bolt on hitch for my trailer to carry a bike rack. But I braced my bumper substantially. See here-

Is there a reason you wouldn't have one welded to the trailer frame, other than price?

The "Safety Struts" work well and are easy to install. Those with a bolt on receiver hitch by Curt will carry up to 200 lbs pretty safely. I did it for over 2 years with no problems.
