Remote awning

Anyone ever wire in a remote control to their awning? We came in the other evening and it was pouring rain, would have been real handy to have a remote control to let it out so we could stay out of the rain while trying to get in the RV. I looked at some like this....

Didn't have to wire it in as the inCommand system can do it through the phone. If you can find a reliable system it will be handy.

As above, I have the inCommand system. I frequently use my phone to control things in my RV, including the 2 main awnings. It is very nice and convenient.

I don't have that system and it is real pricey to purchase.

Sorry I was not more detailed in my response.

I do not know of an aftermarket option to recommend. My comment was simply that having the ability is very nice.

No worries, I understand. I thought you were some lucky guys to have that, I wish I did. I did go look it up and they are very proud of them. I am looking at the poor man version. Lol.

I'll bet this would do the trick and also allow you to operate it from your smartphone

It might be possible to use this on non Carefree awnings. It basically has open/close/ground, and LED light wires, and wiring to power their BT wind sensor. I installed one on my Carefree awning that used a totally different controller built into the lead rail, but was able to use this one inside the coach and utilize the existing wiring. You can download the installation manual for it that contains a wiring diagram and decide for yourself.

Thanks, I did download it and I am looking at it. I also found one by Dometic, which is my brand but says it will work on any. Thanks again
