Removal of Shackles to Lower I-Go
My TT is the I-GO, G29RK, by Evergreen, a shortlived company that's now out of business. It has shackles on in to give it more clearance (equa flex) I don't trail camp and it's just too high. How hard is it to remove the shackles and get it back down?

Depending on your mechanical skill, it's very easy. Put the trailer on jack stands to where the the tires just touch the ground. If you have a floor jack, put it under the axle so when you replace the shackle, you can raise the axle to meet the shackle.
Remove one shackle at a time and replace with new bushing, bolts and nuts. Just about every trailer supply carries shackles so measure what you have then go shopping. When you meausre, make sure the tires have sufficient clearance.

I have the same trailer you have but I am confused about lowering it by removing the shackles. I would like to see a picture of what yours are like.
Removing them may cause damage. It all depends what you actually have.
If you could give a picture it would be better.
However the previous answer was correct very easily done but!

What you have to be careful with is the spring being long enough to accept a shorter shackle......and getting the bolts back in.....

Of course you can put shorter shackles on but you may need to use a different size equalizer and/or different springs for the suspension to work correctly.
Unless the trailer is exceedingly high, don't see any need to lower. One we had several years ago was too low (a 27' Sunline Solaris TT) and dragged the bumper backing in our driveway. It also did 'agricultural' work in many campgrounds with raised sites or roads with a high crown with that back bumper. This was from new. This was corrected with an over/under kit. Jump ahead, our current 5er also dragged the rear bumper, bounced the tires off the fender well and scraped the belly mounted spare several times. I added a 1" spacer plus went up in spring capacity - nary a drag now.
What I'm trying to say is make sure that lowering that TT is what you really should do as the unintended consequences may create worse problems

You should be able to remove the shackles and go for a test drive to decide performance for yourself. They are not difficult to remove and it would be a good time to inspect the spring bushings. Also consider replacing the bolts w/grease zerk bolts.

I don't quite understand what you mean by removing the shackles. You need them to attach that end of the spring to the equalizer, with out them half your suspension is disconnected from the trailer and would be dangerous to tow.

I don't get it either! I want to see a picture. I'm not sure but maybe somebody flipped the axles??
That would explain the height he is talking about!
