Replacement lugs

Hi. I’m new here and have a quick question. We have a Grand Design Imagine 2970RL. I am having trouble with the wheel lugs. Outer covering swells and socket rounds off the lug or gets stuck. I would like to replace all of them. Does anyone know which aftermarket lug would be best? Thanks!

I'm assuming your current wheel nuts have the tin cover ( that is easily damaged by using a standard length socket instead of a deep socket ); and you're looking for solid acorn wheel nuts as a replacement .

How many do you need ? 20 or more ?
Have you tried taking one into a local tire store for a match up?

I would just get regular lug nuts at NAPA.

In the meantime try a metric socket.

Sounds about like the ones Forest River used on mine. Not only are they two piece lugs that will eventually do what yours are, but the coating on them almost feels like a rubber material that grabs hold of the socket and pulls it off my extension every...single...time.

They're on my list of things to throw in the trash when I get some new ones.

Available on Amazon ; BUT !! you need to know your stud size ( standard or metric ) and thread pitch .

I feel your pain. Ford used the "expanding" two piece lug nuts on my 2015 Expedition and I eventually had to replace them. As others have said, Amazon is an option or as I did, search out Gorilla brand on Ebay. BE SURE and get correct length and seat type. Cheers!...

In addition to different thread pitch and diameter, lug nuts may have a different cone shape on them. Aluminum rims often have a different cone from steel rims.

I had those nuts on my trailer and replaced them with really nice lug nuts from Amazon.

Here is an FYI in the same vein. I ordered Michelin tires from Costco and went in to have them installed yesterday. Mercedes uses a wheel mounting bolt with the stainless cap; two of mine were damaged from a previous tire shop. The Costco tire shop informed me that they would have to call a tow truck to remove my vehicle if they were unable to torque the damaged bolts correctly. I left without my tires and ordered some one-piece bolts from Amazon. New appointment is on Saturday.

Seems a little dramatic for a tire shop. I would think it would be fairly simple for them to replace the damaged lugs if needed.

That is what I thought. The technician was very helpful, but had to follow company protocols, which I respect. They don't stock the bolts for Mercedes; different sizes, lengths and tapers. He did say Ford uses a bonded lug nut and they have to replace those all the time with in stock regular nuts.

Costco follows their rule book to the tee.

They also will not alter from a mfgs tire size .
