RV toilet install question....I hate RV toilets

I have had more problems with the toilet in my 2016 Solaire than with the entire rest of the camper combined. I had a Dometic 310 when we bought the trailer new and have replaced it twice already in 5 years, and now that it's gone bad again I figured I would try a Thetford. But when I install the aqua magic V, it doesn't sit flush no matter how hard I tighten the bolts. I've taken it back off twice and tried to reset it so it goes down flush but it rocks front and back. It's like the flange on the floor is too thick...

Any thoughts on how to fix this? I am not going to replace the floor flange unless I know the new part is a direct fit replacement.

Have you considered using toilet shims?

Those are correct. You can get them at any home improvement store. Literally.

I prefer the type Home Depot carries. The ridges provide extra grip to lessen the chance of the shim sliding out.

It looks like the shims may solve your problem, but out of curiosity, what is happening with the toilet that it needs to be replaced three times in five years?

Of all the years of having TT's I have never blown out the toilet. Someone else may argue that but I say I haven't.

Our Dometic 300 broke on our first trip with our new TT. It’s just a cheap piece of plastic. I didn’t file a warranty claim because I’d wind up getting another cheap piece of plastic, which I’d have to install myself, and eventually have to replace again and again and again. So, I put in a Dometic 310. It’s pretty cheaply made too, but it’s been a year and I haven’t broken it yet. Jury still out.

I had a rocking problem with a Dometic 320. It seemed the rubber gasket was too thick. Home Depot had a thinner rubber gasket that worked fine. Problem Solved
