Satellite install advice

I am installing a King Quick release mount kit on my Flagstaff travel trailer for my King Tailgater Satellite unit. King did not supply the screws for mounting to the roof and said that it is the installers responsibility. My question is how long of screws should I use to ensure I don't damage something on the inside. I have never mounted anything on the roof and don't know how thick the roof material is or the roof itself. I was thinking 1.5" screws would work but wanted some advice from someone more seasoned with RV roof work. Also, a suggestion for caulking would be great as well.

Depending on how thick the mounting plate is 1 inch screws should work fine. Remember, all your going to secure to is the 3/8 or maybe 1/2 inch underlaymant and the rubber membrain. Any longer and the screws will be in dead air.

Not to discourage you, but they don't make a ladder mount? That's what I put on my trailer, but I have the Winegard Carryout. Is that king mount for going down the road with the satellite on the roof? I take mine down and store it in the trailer for travel.

It is a unit that will hold the satellite while driving down the road but will allow you to take it off and move it around the campsite if needed for a clear view. https://kingconnect.com/product/quic...oof-mount-kit/

No problem going down the road with it on the roof. I recommend using a lock to ensure it doesn’t walk away.

you hit the 'nail' on the head, or the screw... this may be EXACTLY why they don't provide you with any!
