Sink drain plug question

It made sense for us to go to a trailer and I traded in my 06 Newmar gasser for a venture sporttrek 271 vmb trailer. We bought this mostly for the floor plan and the quality seemed fair - but not Newmar! The bathroom sink plunger drops all the way down so that water cannot drain. To me, it looks like the tabs that would hold the plunger up so it could drain are all snapped off. The dealer said what I have is normal (United RV in Ft Worth) and all his floor models are the same!? Really? I have to completely remove the plunger exposing an open drain pipe to drain water!? I contacted the manufacturer, and it took a couple days for a response, but they confirmed the dealer. Does this sound right to you? I spent a fair mount on this and am really blown away that I dont have a plunger in a sink that will allow draining.

Mine sat up at first, then I think the plastic tabs wore to the point where it won't stay up under a full stream out of the faucet. I just lay it so that it is out but on it's side just barely in the drain hole.

My bathroom sink drain, turn 90 deg for it to sit up and drain, it doesn't take much for it to wiggle and drop back down with washing of hands etc. Usually I just pull it right out and leave it on the back of the sink until I'm actually wanting to fill the sink or travelling. IMHO, Bigger things to worry about.

Yes, it is a small issue, and one I wont have that big a deal living with. But thats not the point! This is brand new and I think is wrong for the dealer and manufacturer telling me that this is the way it is supposed to be!

So take it back to be repaired under warranty. Maybe you'll get it back in 6-8 weeks or so.

Welcome to the world of RVs. There's honestly nothing you can do about it. Just pull the stopper completely out of the sink and deal with the ugly open drain at the bottom. Or you can replace the sink with a better one that can use a more functional stopper, but it will cost you way more than it's worth. My bathroom sink has two soap trays molded into it on the sides of the faucet. One holds soap and the other holds the stopper. It isn't pretty, but it's effective.

I wish I could offer a better solution for you.

If this is your only issue with your new TT then you are extremely lucky. Try this. They come in different sizes. This one fit my bathroom sink drain, but did not fit my kitchen or tub drains.

It is not "right", but it is reality.
