If you are in the market for an under 6000Lb TT that can be towed by 1/2 ton, I have a 2018 Keystone Outback Ultra Light 29UBH for sale. I towed it all over the country with a 2013 Ford Expedition with no issues. Contact me if interested. I can give you lots of insight in the 1/2 towing world. I purchased a 2021 Heritage Glen 271RL and tow it with a RAM 1500. There are some things I recommend to be safe. Hope you the best

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that the new f150 is available with a built in generator. Depending on how you plan to use it that could be a big deal.

We bought a 2021 Keystone Outback Ultra Light 221UMB. My wife wanted small, so she could deal with it more easily when she camps with her friends in Sisters on the Fly. We have bought a 2018 Tundra 5.7 liter with tow package. I think we're good to go.
Thanks for your input.

half ton pickup
I have a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 I believe it's a 5.2 liter engine and it's doing just fine I full-time in my trailer which is a vintage cruiser 23rss 2018 it's about 26 ft long and it weighs 6060 fully loaded I'm sure I have overloaded it at times lol. My truck does just fine pulling this trailer I have no problems whatsoever, would a bigger engine have done better probably but did I need it no I didn't its doing just fine. I hope that helps you make.

Well, I went today with my new (to me) truck and picked up our new RV. I was very pleased with how the Tundra handled the load. I set the cruise control on 68 just to see how it'd handle it, and it pulled it up hills including a fairly steep bridge over the Arkansas River and never got over 3200 RPM. Since it redlines at 6000, I was pleased. Our old gasser class A would have been spinning it's little heart out.
Thanks again for all the input.

I have a 2016 Ram 1500. 5.7L hemi, 3.92 gears, 6 speed transmission. 4x4 quad cab, 6.5 foot box. We have an ORV 280RKS that weighs 10,500#. I've towed it 51,000 miles in the 3 1/2 years we've had it. I also tow commercially with it. Over half of the 211,000 miles on it are with some sort of trailer hooked up. How long yours will last depends on how you drive, maintenance and luck. I watch my temps, shift early and often and have a maintenance schedule tailored to the work I do with it.

We have an Outback 260 UML (30ft overall, 7600lbs gvwr) and have been towing it with a RAM 1500 Hemi up to this point. It managed pretty well but was uncomfortable over 65mph or when it was windy or we were being passed by lots of semis.
We just upgraded to a RAM 2500 diesel and the difference in towing comfort is huge. I know that a 1500 is most likely a better daily driver for lots of people. We don't use our RV full time or anything like that, but the upgrade was worth it to us when we do.

I don’t think there are many of us out there. I tow a Micro Minnie 2100BH 3860lbs empty and around 4700lbs loaded with the 2021 F150 Lariat Powerboost (1441lbs payload) with the 7.2Kw inverter, trailer tow package, 3.73 rear axle and an EAZ WDH. I’ve got a small sample size of about 1400 miles of towing with no problems at all.
The Pro Power on board is awesome. Plug the trailer into the bedwall and I’ve got 3600watts of 30 amp power to my trailer with mostly no noise. The ICE kicks on a few times an hour for a minute or so each time to recharge the truck’s lithium battery when running the AC. When powering the trailer without the AC, the ICE kicks on much less frequently. Doesn’t use much gas at all and the only noise is the periodic engine idle.
Another nice feature is the eco idle. You can leave the truck locked and on with the truck AC running. Great for leaving pets in the car. You can also monitor the the pro power onboard from the Ford pass app if you are away from the truck and trailer. Smartest most versatile vehicle I’ve ever owned.
Campgrounds with power are not really our thing and we have and will be doing mostly national forest and BLM camping so the Powerboost and onboard power are really perfect for us. I get about 9mpg in mostly mountain driving. Oh well, the benefits of having the power for camping and a great daily driver vehicle that gets around 22mpg not towing far outweigh any need for a bigger TV for us.

Very nice!
How do yo power your MM while you’re away on an excursion with the truck?

We have a 100 watt solar panel that I think helps with phantom discharge for things like the slide and the power tongue jack that are directly wired to the battery and then the only thing that we leave on while away from the MM is the electric only fridge and while I am not sure how long the battery would power the fridge, several hours of having it on house battery power has worked well so far. Similar to an overnight without AC, I turn off the pro power onboard and just use battery power to run the fridge until morning.

I'll make sure whatever I get has a tow package and at least a 10,000 pound towing capacity.

Look at the yellow sticker inside the drivers door for the payload capacity of the truck you are interested in. I'd try to find one with at least 1600 lbs capacity. You are going to have about 900 lbs hitch weight fully leaded. Good luck and have fun.

Hi, I actually just recently (Nov 2020), sold my 2012 Silverado 1500 5.3L and got a new Silverado 3500HD diesel. I towed our 26ft Keystone Cougar (5,900lbs dry-7,200lbs loaded) with that 1/2 ton and it did alright I thought until I towed with my 1-Ton diesel. I was getting 7-9MPG towing and I hated towing up steep hills or mountain passes as I could only go about 40MPH pedal to the metal fully loaded down. Stopping was a nightmare when you have to stop or slow down quickly for some reason or another, had to leave lots and lots of space between you and the other drivers with my old 1/2 ton truck and don't get me started about the wind lol, not comfortable trust me. I was always over weight and the 1/2 ton would struggle but it towed it pretty safely somewhat. Definitely not as sweet as a newer diesel. Heck, sometimes I don't even know its back behind me. If someone asked me which truck to tow with between a 1/2 ton and a 3/4-1-ton, I would say go diesel or a 3/4 ton gasser, but then again your MPG will be terrible. I'm getting 12-15MPG towing with the diesel, better when my foot is ever so gently on the pedal. Just trust me, get a diesel and you wont ever look back! Best of luck!

I’m towing a 2004 Outback, 5200 lbs. using my 1/2 ton 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500. I’ve not been to any mountains. Towing in the flatlands of SC has been good. Quick starts, easy control using the anti sway bars. I keep the tow package on & of course drive in 3 drive.
I was surprised to see over 10 MPG average & 65 to 68 MPH.
I don’t know how well the transmission will hold up but no problems so far!
