Sonic200

We just purchased a new Sonic 200vml. There is a control button in bathroom labeled Tank Heater. Anyone know what tank it’s heating if turned on.

Most likely the electric element in the water heater. Ensure there is water in the heater tank before turning it on, or the heating element will quickly be destroyed.

Hi and welcome to iRV2.

The switch could be for the holding tank heaters. Looks through your documentation packet and see if there is one for tank heaters. If there is it'll describe how to use it and how it works. You might even be able to see them attached to the underside of the tanks.

Generally there is just one tank heater on smaller trailers and it is attached to the fresh water tank. You turn the switch on when temps approach freezing and it keeps the water flowing, or it is supposed to anyway. The heater pad itself is temperature controlled and only comes on when temps fall below 35* or so.

The water lines may still be exposed to freezing temps so just turning the tank heater on may not keep the lines from freezing. Opening all the cabinet doors so heat gets to those areas that may have water lines will help.

Unless the fresh water tank is above floor like ours.

Hello fellow Sonic owner!

As others have said it's a pad to keep the fresh tank warm on cold nights. Our Sonic's are not a true 4 season trailer, but the tank heater will let extend out the camping season for ya through the fall or early spring (depending where ya live).
