Squeaky Travel Trailer

I notice when I back-up my trailer it makes horrific squeaking and crackling noises.

What needs to be lubed to prevent this? I can't really tell where it coming from, besides from the trailer itself.

Any ideas?

I keep all trailer suspension parts and hitch parts lubed/greased. If you have a friction sway control , disconnect it prior to backing, they can make groaning and squealing sounds too

I don't really prefer to grease the ball, like so many do and I know it not coming from there. I've greased the wheel bearings. Are there any grease fittings that I should know about that may not be in plain sight?

Are you using a weight distributing hitch? If so that is probably the source of all the noise, and you should look at the owner's manual for lubrication points, proper lube, and other maintenance items.

My Equal-I-Zer hitch can be very noisy if it's dry, and a little grease in the right place according to the owner's manual makes it nearly totally silent.

Trailer suspension, leaf springs, links, pivot points

Have someone walk next to the trailer as you back it up to see if they can identify the location of the noise.

My guess is the WDH, provided of course that you have one. I'm surprised at the racket they make - at least one every day pulling into a campground, all across the USA and Canada.

Might be the WDH. What model are you using?
I never had either of my TT's squeak when backing up. Only noise I got was the brakes and equalizer clancking

I sprayed silicone on the leaf springs. That'll help protect them from rusting too. That seems to have done the trick. I bought a new left-over 2018 last week. It was made in Dec.2017. So I imagine it's been sitting around not moving as much as it would like to and got cranky.
