Stop Warping Wood

Hello everyone, newbie trailer owner here! Just picked up a 1982 Field and Stream. Small but in great shape, for a nice deal. We are pretty excited. I'm trying to bring myself up to speed on a few things.

One, I remember someone telling me a while back they put an open bowl of water in their trailer to keep the wood paneling and such from warping. Has anyone else heard of that trick, or wouldn't cause condensation and possibly mold?

It's really hot where we are in the High Desert, California. Trying to learn a few tricks for keeping this trailer well maintained.

Thanks for the help!

I live in the Desert Southwest, Southern NM, really dry

Ive had my RV for over 2 years here, and there is plenty of wood and havent noticed any warping.

The RV is parked in an RV carport, so it doesnt get direct sun, but it does get hot and dry inside.

Addressing you bowl of water, just my opinion i would think that you would have to have alot of water placed around to raise the humidity in there, just dont see it working.

I would think that a high humidity situation would cause warping and expansion of the wood.

When there is high dry heat, it would seem to me that the wood would shrink before warping.

Some water placed in the camper sure couldn't hurt the situation considering your location.
