Suburban Stove

I have a Suburban drop in 2 burner stove that sits next to the sink. Stove design does not allow it to sit flush with the countertop. When we use the sink sometimes the water gets under the stove top and down inside the cabinets. I am looking for ideas on how to seal the gap between the stove top and the countertop. Thank you

There are "high heat" silicone sealants (check auto parts stores if not available at home centers), but I would imagine any "regular" silicone sealant would be fine for what you're trying to do.

Buytl Tape to Seal

There are lots of different Suburban stove tops. A picture or model number would get you better advice.

I use butyl tape. It is available in many hardware stores in the roofing department. It is used to seal steel roofing.

The soft sticky tape can be removed later much easier than any kind of silicone material.

Method:
Remove the stove top.
Lay buytl tape on the countertop where the edge of the stove will contact.
Replace the stove top.
Peel the exposed buytl off around the out side. Use a plastic putty knife to help it off. An old credit card also works. Anything that will not scratch.

While you're fiddling with it, check all gas connections for tightness.

Try not splashing so much water. I have a similar set up. Sink to right of stove. I’m careful and I have a dish towel at the ready if needed. Shouldn’t really be much of a problem.
