Tire replacement

Anyone here with a 19 RBS Vintage Cruiser? I am looking to replace my current 205 70 14 with 215 70 14. Anyone done it? Where there any modifications needed? If so what? How does it ride with the 215 ?
Thanks in advance.

Tire size should read ST 205 75 R 14 to ST 215 75 14
Thanks

If you have the room it will be fine. The 215 is about 1/2 an inch taller and wider so check your clearance, especially the room between tires if it is a double axle trailer as the tires grow a little at speed.

More important than the size is buying a good tire, not a cheap tire. Go with Goodyear Endurance or Maxxis tires.

A 205 Endurance will fit on a 5"-6 1/2" rim. A 215 works on a rim that is 5 1/2"-7". Diameter of the tire is the same, the 215 is 0.3" wider on the tread. As long as your rim width will work with the 215, you'll be fine. But honestly, I don't see where you will be gaining anything as the weight rating is only about 160lbs difference @65psi, and they don't make an E-Rated 215/70/14. But I echo what keymastr said, go with an Endurance or Maxxis.

The 19 RBS looks like a single axle trailer with a 4380 gvwr. The gvwr divided by two tires = 2200 lbs per tire. The Goodyear Endurance ST215/75-14 load D at 65 psi has 2200 lbs capacity.
Have you ever weighed the load on the trailers axles. A ST205/75-14 has 1760 lbs times two = about 3500 lbs. My point is RV mfg may not choose a tire with 10-15 % reserve capacity which is recommended by experienced trailer owners and actual tire experts/engineers (Tireman9). Sometimes trailer mfg choose a tire with no reserve capacity.

Ride quality ?? very little to non between the 205/75 and the 215/75 tire. Now you may notice a different mounting a newer or just different tires on the trailer and moving from a load C to a load D can have a rougher ride.

I have never seen a ST205/70 series tire. Is the 70 a typo ??

I would recommend 1st...
The Provider ST tire. They were the first out in '11 with the new higher speed rating and are very popular on boating forums...other rv websites and other trailer type forums.

Of course the Endurance is USA made but its been out around two years now. Its too soon to see how they stand up to 5-6 years and 25k/35k miles of service.

Maxxis ...their still rated at 65 mph. With over 30 rv owners reporting issues with them I would look at a better tire.
JMO part of Maxxis problems are all their ST tires don't have the nylon cap under the tread. They mention this in their adds but they don't give any sizes.

I would also look at Carlisle HD all new tire. They also have been out around two years but like the Endurance seems to be popular on different type of trailering forums.

Thank you all for your responses. They echo my own research on size. I will be buying the goodyears. I was being lazy and wanted to see if anyone with my trailer had already done the upgrade with positive results, I would hate to buy the 215 and discover that they don't fit the wheel well. I'll get out the measuring tape and check clearances. I would like the 10-15% increase safety margin the 215 will provide over the 205.
Thanks again
