Tires: TransEagle ST Radial ?

Anyone heard of TransEagle ST Radials? They are available in load range G in my size and are supposidly built more like a semi trailer tire. (ST225/75R15). I like the idea of having a heavier tire.

Any experience with them?

Although I did notice it only has a speed rating of L /75 mph.

There are a number of good trailer tires on the market, both US and China made and elsewhere, but you will recognize the names and this is not one of them.

Question:where are these tires manufactured?

Answer:They are Chinese tires. They have done me well so far. It is hard to find many tires still made in USA anymore. I did see that Americas tire was selling these also ,which made me feel a little better. I have pulled some heavy loads , so far they have done me well. But it has only been a few months. Won't know long term until a few years pass by. Hopefully this helps. see less

Do you really need a RV tire that has a speed rating over 75 MPH?

It's about design margin. You'll find most car tires are rated 100+ mph. Driving 65 on tires rated for 75 means you don't have a lot of margin for heat buildup, throw in 120 degree day in the desert southwest and you are likely outside the design spec as the tire manufacturers won't consider 120 degrees air temp to be 'normal'. Also note the spec is per air temp, not road temp. Any idea how hot new blacktop can get in the desert summer? You can no joke fry eggs on it.

If the tire is rated per ECE, the test is done at 77 degrees, if done per SAE, it's 100 degrees. So when outside temps exceed the tested to spec, your tire is subject to fail at lower speeds as they will quickly get too hot.

Had one mounted on a dump trailer and towed it 800 mi in 100 deg plus heat and it held up that long, cant say after that. I wont bring up how fast.
