Toilet Mystery

Yesterday I took my travel trailer out of storage and moved it just a few yards to a different location. When I went into the bathroom, there was water all over the floor. When I opened the toilet, water was all the way to the top, thankfully I clean my tanks well and the water was clear. I flushed the toilet and the water went back to the tank. There can't be more than a couple of gallons in the tank as I usually add a couple of gallons with chemicals after emptying the tank.
I have never had this happen before, what could have happened?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Did you have water in your holding tank? My guess would be that the toilet flush valve got a little stuck for some reason and pumped water into the bowl. I can't see any way "water" could get from the waste tank back up into the bowl.

when you parked it the first time did you shut the pump off? and open a faucet to relieve the pressure. leaving the pump on and a leaking flush valve is about the only way it could fill up. i turn my pump off when ever the R/V is unattended

Thanks for the replies so far.
Toilet lid was closed. Black tank only has a couple of gallons in it.
Water pump and fresh tank are never used, I only camp with hook ups.
Vent has no leaks. Pipe cap is intact on roof with no leeks.
My cleaning procedure is as follows:
Dump black completely, let run for a few minutes via black flush sprayer, when finished I close the black valve and do a 60 second count with black flush running to put a couple of gallon back in black tank. Turn off black tank sprayer.
Go into trailer, open toilet and pour in bottle of blue chemical.
Close empty toilet lid. It bugs me that the water was clear, and not blue tinted from the chemical...... The black tank is not full, when I flushed the toilet, the clear water fell into tank as normal.
To me, the water could not have come from the black tank. No water pump either, lid closed, no leaks from above. Sounds crazy but these are the facts.

Water in the toilet bowl comes THRU the toilet water valve

OR an elf snuck in and poured a bottle of water in the toilet

Water is not going to defy gravity and come up fro the tank. It was either the valve and there was pressure left in the lines or the pump us on, or water was left in it.

We had an RV toilet that did that. It was the water supply valve. We had to drain the fresh water tank until we got it fixed. And we did not have the water pump on. It was filling by magic. Some people add a water line shut off at the toilet just for this reason.

I guess my question is, was there water in the fresh water tank, or was it drained empty?

Pressure tank

Some RV water systems have a pressure tank. It is air over water. A leaking toilet valve could have allowed the pressure tank to bleed down into the bowel.

Other sources of pressurized water are the water heater, a water softener, filters, cabin heating systems that use water, or a combination of them.

An unused fresh water tank does not insure the fresh tank is empty. Experienced owners have reported overfilled fresh and black tanks due to inexperienced others connecting to the wrong fittings, or setting fill or flush valves to wrong positions. Fill and flush valves have been known to leak. Open the low point drain in the fresh tank to see if it is empty.

Clear water in the toilet bowel indicates fresh water system as the source. Look to the fresh system for unexpected source of water.

Next time, leave a faucet valve open to insure all pressure is gone and stays gone.

I wish you good luck and happy trails ahead!

An accumulator tank and a leaky toilet valve would would do this.
I can't see anyway it is not a leaky toilet valve combined with a water source (city, fresh plus pump, accumulator tank, etc). Maybe there is some way to setup a siphon or capillary action but I am struggling to envision that.

I was going to say that it could be a roof leak over the toilet but since the OP stated that the lid was closed,, nevermind.

As mentioned, the fresh water tank could have water in it because of user error with water hook-up or a leaking city/fill valve. Also, there is more that one water pump switch on many rigs. Could it be that one of the switches was accidently turned on? The flush valve at the toilet would have to be leaking by as well. Lot's of things but,,, it could happen!

My vintage coach has a shut off at the toilet and it came from the factory.
