Torquing lug nuts

Two questions
1. I thought I posted this earlier? Can't seem to find it?
2. We have a 23' hideout by keystone, net weight 4200', two axles, CCC 2600', ST205/75/14. Where or who knows the lug nut toque?
Torquing

Use a spinner/cross wrench and when yours cross the nuts are tight. Probably 90#+/ft or as above.

12mm 100 ft-lbs

tire shops will check them to make sure that they are all at least 100lbs. 1/2" drive air guns usually come in at about 125lbs.

Never use an airgun to tighten.

Most new trailers have a sticker inside somewhere that indicates torque specs. My Winnebago calls for 110#. The stickers are inside one of the wardrobe doors, but yours may be elsewhere.

I think it would depend on the type of wheel you have. At least that is what the RV service manager asked me. He did tell me on my Hideout 22KBSWE, 27 1/2 ft. long, 95 to 105 ft lbs. So I do 100.

The manufacturer website should have that info, I only torque my RV lugs but my cars and trucks I just tighten by hand with cross bar. I do torque all bolts on the RV hitch and wheels before every trip and after to make sure I don't lose a wheel or the hitch shifts.

Such an important topic and all the guessing. Overtorque, stretched studs, loose wheels, deformed/warped brake drums etc. Do your homework and get it right.

Are you saying that if you lose a wheel off your car or truck that this would be ok? You want the wheels to stay on your trailer though.
Costco will not let any vehicle out of their tire shops without the tires being torqued by one person then torqued again by another person. They understand the importance.

Thats funny, I have used lug wrenches on my cars for years and never lost a wheel. The idea that because I dont torque my lugs on my car is nonesense. I only saw a mechanic at a a garage use a torque once. As for the trailer, of course those should be torqued because most have the most basic of suspension and are subjected to a lot more stress as they are not as beefy as my car or truck. If I lose a wheel off my car I will be sure to tell you about it and say your were right, I just dont see that happening. ..

Torquing lug nuts

What is the recommended foot pound setting for the lug nuts of aluminum rims? Does every new trailer have that sticker indicating it? Got the wrench.

My new Jayco Jay Feather 23RBM is 110. I wouldn't guess. Talk with your a Dealer for your brand of TT and get it right. Your dealer should be your friend. :-)
