Hi all!

Are all tires sized for travel trailers rated at 65 mph, or would better quality tires available in that size allow a bit more speed (don’t worry — I’m not looking to go crazy!)?

Many ST (Special Trailer) tires are now rated for 75mph. And some are even higher. For example the Goodyear Endurance trailer tire is speed rated 'N' which is 87 mph.

Finally trailer tires are catching up with the current highway speeds.

Along these same lines; what's more important, improving the load rating or speed rating over the stock tires?

Yes, better quality will have a higher speed rating. Higher rating means they maintain their shape, and thus less heat buildup.
Even my 3 year old Towmax ST tires, are rated at 75 mph, and I consider them low end.
Goodyear’s Endurance will be going on next year.

Have the Goodyear Endurance and I'm really happy with them. E Load rating & N speed rated.

Not many radial ST tires left out here that are rated 65 mph.
As mentioned speed rating is more about the tires ability to deal with heat at higher speed especially while carrying a load.

Smaller light weight trailers can benefit from P tires ......or LT for a heavier trailer if they have enough load capacity to meet or exceed the trailers axle/wheel load ratings.

for 14" and 15" trailer tires I only see TWO good choices , MAXXIS and Goodyear endurance. these tires will not give you any trouble with correct air pressure and not using them longer then the suggested 7 years MAX.

I just replaced the maypops on my travel trailer with the Carlisle tires rated for 81 mph. would never go more than 70 but having that rating should give me more margin of safety. have used Carlisle tires for many years on various trailers without any problems.

I have heard great things about the Goodyear Endurance.

However, I too have the Carlisle tires, iirc, range D and 81mph. I also wanted something with a higher speed rating, and the GY Endurance couldt be found locally and would take a few days to order in. Only had the Carlisle a year but so far very happy.
