Trying to decipher/decode old (1983) coachmen TT VIN

Just picked up this camper, at first i thought it was a park model (maybe it was at some point, idk) but when i found the PDF (attached) it decodes as a travel trailer, conventional tandem. I also attached a picture of it (yes i know it needs work im working on it lol)

Only info i have is that the PO was told it was a 1983, and it says Normandy across the back.

I was told in another post that Normandy was made by FAN COACH company but they were bought out around that time by Coachmen RV and i already sent them an email, but not sure if they will be much help

The vin: 1TC2B5122D3001451 ( the "D" looks like a 0 but every VIN checker i have typed it into says that 0 is an invalid character...

Picture of VIN attached also after tracing it with sharpie

EDIT: The reason i really need to figure this out is because my wife and I are doing a quick renovation, and update the slide/tip outs so they have better support, and moving down to TN the first week of june, so really want to have plates on it for a cross country trek. the DMV can process a "no proof of ownership" as long as i have pics and a "semi" valid VIN #, it hasnt been registered in MN that i know of so its not gonna show up in thier system even with a full VIN, but getting insurance would be easier if I can figure this out

No matter how your Vin # search goes, i sure hope you do a though inspection of the frame integrity, brakes, wheel bearings , tires, and lights, before you go on the road ! For your saftey and ours !!!!! Best of luck !

well it's getting all new LED lights, I just put 4 brand new DOT low boy tires on it. bearings will be repacked in a week or so and at the end of the month the entire frame will be wired hrushed, checked for fatigue then repainted

The VIN stamped on this frame does not conform to U.S. VIN standards. The 9th digit is a check digit and it is wrong. The 10th digit represents the year which if interpreted as a D would indicate it was 1983. The 10th digit is obviously stamped 0 and not D.

Whenever I see a VIN that does not conform to VIN standards, I automatically think that it is stolen. I spent 14 years as an Auto Theft detective. Some additional investigation is warranted to try and date the trailer and then an off line NCIC search will probably turn up a rat.

Well the official VIN after some more scraping and online searching is this: 1TC2B5122D30001451

I know it is correct because it popped up in thier system as being last registered in 2010 to a guy that lives about an hours NE of here, and was born in 1936 (no the dmv did not tell me this, she got distracted with another customer and i glimpsed at the monitor), the only issue is that i have to wait until the system finished purgeing the title out of the system, which should happen in the next month or so. in the meantime im stuck waiting. or trying to locate a guy that is more than likely deceased or close to it

I'm counting 18 digits in your VIN. There should be only 17
