TT air compressor for tire maintenance?
A question, does one need to carry an air compressor cable of inflating TT & TV tires in the TT? I have an accurate tire pressure gauge to know if the tires are inflated to the correct PSI however I do not have an air compressor in my TT or TV that I can use to inflate any of the tires if they require air. I would think that such a compressor must have a long enough hose and/or electrical wire so as to be able to reach the tires on both the trailer and tow vehicle.
So, what do you use?

I keep one in the TV with 3 extension hoses to reach back to the TT tires Going south to north can bring pretty big temp changes that impact tire air pressure

My TT tires have a TPMS system and I carry a Powertank with me on trips in case of a low tire issue. Faster and easier than a compressor.

I use a 12 volt compressor with battery clips. Those can be attached to the trailer battery or the truck as needed. Bicycle tires need air every time they are used, so the compressor stays in the truck all the time. I also added an extension hose. The 12 volt units that plug into a lighter socket are very slow and may push the limits of the socket.
This is what I use, they can be found for much less if you do a search. Air Compressor, MV-50 | SuperFlow

+1..... I don't have TPMS but a tank with 125 psi in it sure comes in handy and is a lot less hassle than a compressor. I stopped at a tire shop and they aired it up for me when it was low. With a good compressor at home, It's always at 125 before I leave on a trip.

In my experience some, not all, 12 volt compressors cannot handle the heat they generate when trying to inflate tires above 45 pounds, despite claiming they are good to 75 pounds. They often overheat and then shut down. I purchased a Cobalt ,150 pound, 3 gallon air compressor at Lowe's and a 50 foot air hose with a tire inflater and gauge. It is a very compact unit and does a terrific job. I also use it to blow debris off the slides before retracting them and for inflatable rafts. They require 110 volt outlets but I just check the tires prior to leaving for the campground and before returning home. It provides me great peace of mind knowing the tires are inflated properly and will not blow out to underinflation.

Just an FYI. The Powertank is like a CO2 fire extinguisher and it holds somewhere around 1500 psi enough to refill several flat tires. If a tire begins to go low I will be told by the TPMS and can refill and inspect quickly and get off the freeway to change or get to a tire shop. I will know exactly how low it is getting and can refill it several times if needed.

Absolutely carry a small compressor. I forgot to check my spare tire pressure and had a flat on my last trip. I replaced the flat with the spare but the spare was at 40psi. No problem had my small compressor and took care of it. Also great in case you need to touch up your pressure before breaking camp. I have a 110v compact auto compressor and I use my truck 110v outlet or I use the generator. I have both so whichever is more convenient at the time.

So, is that nitrogen or CO2, or just compressed air in it? Do you refill it? If so, where, How big is it? Sorry for the thread hijack but this might help a lot of us... and I really don't like my big air tank.

I just purchased this little guy! It should be versatile enough for TT tires as well as quick winterizing between destinations in colder months.

I carry this bad boy. Takes up very little room and inflates my 19.5 tires effortlessly.
