TV Antenna Alternative???

I have one of the antennas that ridenslide described. It works well. However, it is easy to break one or more of the elements when in storage or if it falls over. Mine has a few elements missing or bent and still works well.

I ended up with one of these:

Not quite as good reception wise as the amplified rotating antenna but it works, is compact, durable and stores well.

Here is a good site that shows you what direction to point your antenna and how many channels you can expect to get. Lots of other TV information in there too.

It’s all right here. Roof-mount crank up with latest Wineguard Antenna. Easiest to live with.

The HD TV antenna is mostly marketing not technology. The only difference is that they moved a lot more channels up into the UHF range. Channel number displayed is not the RF channel. If you had a decent antenna you still have one. The Wingman improves UHF on the Batwing to equal or exceed anything else in the normal roof mount antennas. If you want to go with a bigger array on a separate pole to put up and take down then you can do better if you need it. Digital signals don't like to be over driven or under driven so they can be a real pain compared to the analog system.
