Vegas in Aug...
My husband and I bought our first TT the end of last year, 2017 Cougar 26RBIWE, who we fondly refer to as Ms. Kitty.
We have a friend getting married in Vegas in August and have decided to drive and take Ms Kitty for her first out of state trip (we live in WA. state).
We will be staying at the Oasis RV Park. We have only done dry camping this far so hook ups will be a nice treat.
Any advice, tips, tricks etc ASIDE FROM DON'T go to Vegas in August??
I'm a little nervous about the AC just because Vegas is so blistering HOT!
My thought is to spend the majority of the day at the pool and turn the AC on in the evening before we head for the strip so it will be cool when we get back???

Unless you are paying for electric by the KWh I would run the ac all day. It will get baking in there during the day and will have a time catching up even after the sun goes down.

This caught my attention since I plan on driving through the desert next month to go to Idaho from L.A.
I am debating on whether to say a night in Las Vegas or move a bit further north and stay a night in Mesquite. Either place will be blistering hot, most likely.

I live in Vegas and I would just keep the AC on. You are correct Vegas is hot in August. I hear the Oasis is a great place to stay. Good luck on your maiden voyage.

Yes....and you might want to think how you can put a generator in your truck bed and run the AC the entire time you are driving. Otherwise the trailer will be soooo hot when you get there it won't cool down enough to sleep. It could take 8 hours of constant running to cool the trailer from 110 degrees to 80 degrees.

We have been going to Vegas in the summer for years (but not in an RV). There have been times the hotel AC had trouble keeping up! Last week when we were there the over night low was in the 80's and day high in the 110's.
I say keep the AC on all the time and have as much shade (natural or awnings) as possible.
Vegas is not bad in the summer to visit IF you don't go outside. My first trip there was in 1983 and I spent 6 days playing golf with it being over 100 every day. I think it may be the hottest I have ever felt do you have any idea how much steam comes up from the grass and just how much water it must take to keep the grass green? (Only thing worse might have been FL around 100 deg and 100 humidity.)

Shade is your friend. If you can, get a space with any shade - the more the better of course. Got awnings? Deploy them. Consider to add awnings to windows if you don't have them already. Got slide out(s) with cabinets in them? Insulate the top and rear of the cabinets. Start air conditioning early, so it's not having to play catch up.

Yes Utah is a bit cooler as it is higher in elevation.
