Water concerns

I am a retread camper owner, having had one years ago that did NOT have a good water system, so I avoided it. Now that I’ve updated from a 1985 beater to a 2010 model, I will prob follow the advice I’m seeing here about leaving systems open to eliminate yuck growing in the tank.
But I do have a question: my unit has 2 “low-point drains” (one blue one red) that I think I understand….but I also have a “fresh tank drain”. Is this actually a 3rd tank or is it just a way to empty pipes that are possibly full of water? Confusing to say the least!

Sounds like you got the first part correct. The fresh tank drain should drain the fresh water tank only. When stored I always drain the fresh water tank to mitigate any fresh water tank concerns.

Jon,
Mine also has the 2 low point drains and a separate big valve to drain the water tank.
Don't trust the 2 low point valves to get all the water out of the system when you winterize. I still use compressed air thru both the sinks to clear out all the water. Same with the tank drain. I open it and drive around the block to get the last bit to slosh out.

You are also correct about the low point drains. They are supposed let any water left in the system drain out, but they do not always totally drain the pipes. There can still be water pooled in low lying areas of the plumbing.
