water softener

I see Calgon water softener recommended for water tanks to reduce scale buildup on censors. Can't find it this part of Canada [Southwest]. Wal Mart has Windsor System Saver Pellets [pure salts] IS IT THE SAME STUFF, or can someone suggest what I can use ? Thanks

A real water softener is best and most economical for clean pipes, tanks, shower walls, faucet screens, etc.
Our On-The-Go softener recharges with table salt.

We also use a water softener.

Highly recommend it.. it also uses table salt for regeneration.

If you want to try Calgon you can get it thru Amazon.com

Hi Vallance - I think you are talking about the level censors in your grey and black tanks!

If you are - then no, the "System Saver Pellets" will not work so please do not put it in the tanks.

The water softner is found in Wal Mart in the section where laundry detergent is sold. It may be on the same side of the aisle as fabric softner. The brand name they most often carry is "Calgon" - When I first looked for it in Wal Mart I had a hard time finding it, but did eventually.

I've used it as part of the "Geo-Method" to clean my holding tanks and have never had a sensor problem. (But now I've probably jinxed myself)

I saw the "Rain Drops" water softener at Amazon and it is a lot cheaper than Calgon. It seems to be about the same as far as how much is recommended for a wash load. For just putting it in the black tank will it work just as good?
