Well, I am in cold weather yet again.
I wanted to visit friends in Pennsylvania before the weather got cold. Well, I did not make it...brrr. I am sleeping in a sleeping bag to stay warm.
6 nights in a row so far with mid 30's lows. The days are nice and sunny and warm up around noon...ugh
It was still summer I thought for most of the cold nights...

Fall came quick out west too. Not that cold here yet but the fall rains have started here in the Seattle area. Coldest temps so far have been about 50 so not too bad.

Tuffer2, I'm in Pa. and have had the furnace running for several days,, put an hour meter on the furnace, it's run 12 hours so far.

Clifford - how much propane do you burn in 20 hours?
I use more electric heat than propane.

That ain’t cold.
I lived thru 52 Wisconsin winters, moved to Midland Texas 7 years ago.
Haven’t ‘missed’ winter yet.

Just got back from a central CO trip. The coldest nights were mid 20sF but would usually warm up to mid 50s during the day. I figured I used about 1 1/2 gals of propane in a 24 hour period in those conditions

Same in Ohio. Nice during the day and frosty cold at night. Bought a Delonghi Capsule ceramic space heater. Ran it on low and it got way too hot inside at first...took some time to get the thermostat set right. But I was able to to keep it a toasty 72-73 consistently without it running all the time.

Carry extra blankets.
Electric mattress pad work better than an electric blanket.

Just back from the Jasper AB area , two nights of frost was enough to convince me to move ....fast !

Wednesday & Thursday had the furnace run in the morning but by noon it was time for the a/c here in way Upstate NY along Lake Champlain. Standard operating this time of year.

Yes, almost turned on the A/C during the day but resisted. The clear cold nights means warm sunshine during the day. I like this type of weather the best. By 10:00am it is warming up nice and by 10;00pm time to turn on the electric oscillating heater.
The sleeping bag is proving to be the life saver. But next year I will have a heating pad.
