What happened to the handicap group

Howdy Y'all,

What has happened to the HANDICAP GROUP; there used to be a site for them and now I don't find it anymore??? We are not able to do a lot of rough camping anymore or boondocking and DO NOT like crowded RV
parks, but still like to get out and would like to be with folks like us and not the ones who look 'down on' or pity us or gripe and say we shouldn't be in the campgrounds... Where can we find this type 'campers'??? We're in West Central TEXAS and are TEXAS AGGIES!!!
Thanx, for any info!!!

Yikes! It's hard to believe anyone would think like that. Look down on the disabled?

When I see handicapped people in the CGs I say "More power to them!"

It's so much better that they get out and enjoy themselves than sit at home watching the boob tube.

Howdy butterbean, I guess my wife and I are in the same situation. I had no idea that there was such a group, certainly would be interesting to find out how others deal with the many issuses that limit our enjoyment.
We do not do the campground scene either, but prefere to be on the road or visiting friends and relatives who live away from our area.
Close to home we have this Park, Lansdowne Outdoor Recreational Development Association -Home-
The Park is mostly dedicated to Disabled or Seniors and the camping is open to all but is mostly used by disabled or seniors. We haven't been there yet, but maybe this year. If you find your web site we'd be interested.
Cheers
Willey

Butterbean I'd camp with you anytime. Not sure who you ran into that gave you that bad feeling but I have several handicap members in my family and have been known to need some help myself once in awhile. We love to camp and prefer the state parks and like a lithe more room. It's been my experience that most folks will go out of there way to help out. There is a lot of people that just
dont know what to say our do when they encounter a handicap person. That doesn't make them bad. Help them out and brake the ice. I think there is a lot you can do to help them to learn to except you and be comfortable with your handicap. Most folks are good and most campers are great!
