Winnebago 27 RBDS thoughs?

This is a trailer that my DW likes. It seems like it is good quality. I mean better than average. It has two opposing slides in the living area which makes it look roomy.

As any RV'er knows opposing slides really is selling point.

Anyone have a Winnebago built trailer? How is the general quality?

Don't have one, but I do know some history worth sharing.

Winnebago bought one of my favorite travel trailer companies to get into the trailer business, Sunnybrook RV. Small company with a loyal following. Sunnybrook's Harmony was near top of the line in their day for traditional travel trailers. All aluminum superstructure, better appliances, electronics, equaflex suspension system, residential cabinetry, hidden hinges, motorcoach gel coat fiberglass exteriors, on and on.

A few corners have been cut, but the Minnie Plus owes it's above the average quality and design to Sunnybrook in my opinion.

Here's a video of the Ultralite model of the trailer she likes. The Ultralite and luxury Instinct models were combined to make the newer Minnie Plus, which are basically loaded with options now as standard. So this Ultralite, loaded up would be today's Minnie Plus.

If I were buying new, and Arctic Fox or Outdoors RV were not available, Minnie Plus would be my next choice.

Here's a similar 27BHSS that should explain the Minnie Plus differences.

Here's the old Harmony brochure, you'll see where Winnebago travel trailer came from:
https://www.jerrystrailers.com/fckim...11-Harmony.pdf

Wife's picked a good one in a travel trailer, wonder what she likes in the right 3/4 ton truck to pull it?

Kinda like the color on this new 2018 in SC.

We have a 2014 27RBDS, which was bought new. Now have 14.5k miles on it and is still kicking strong. As with any vehicle, there were small recoverable problems and one major. Now that the kinks are all worked out, a wonderful trailer.

sd75mac - what do you tow your with and are you happy with your tow vehicle. I am thinking right now to tow (subject to change) with a Ford F-150 3.5 Eco-boost.

Normal_Dave - I have a 2011 Sunny Brook Bristol Bay 3510 5th wheel with a little red Winnebago sticker on it. I needed a light fixture that I broke when I dropped it. I contacted Winnebago and got the right part...amazing.

tuffr2 - I pull with a '13 F-150 SC Eco-Boost and am very happy. Gas mileage is 'round 9-10 mpg when pulling. Not much sway, it has automatic sway control and I use a sway bar.

That is great to hear. I was worried I would need a 3/4 ton to be happy. That looks like a great TT. Those opposing slides really open it up and makes it look huge inside. Living area is 5th wheel like.

My trailer weight is 'round 6660#. The opposing slides is what sold us.

I found the thread that I thought I saw a while ago. 484 replies to Winnebago trailers. I read about 50 so far. The general consensus is it is a good trailer with minor things like loose connections here and there.

My experience has been, after towing 1,000 miles lots of things loosen up.

I kinda want a color. Yellow, Red, Blue, Green are a few colors I have seen.

What do you guys think of color?

That has to be unloaded weight right, I can't imagine dual slide 27' being that light?

I scaled a 26' rear bath Minnie Plus only one slide at 7200#s, that was loaded though.

Just checked the Winnebago page and it list 8800# as the gross weight. I don't load anywhere near gross, but that thing still has to weigh every bit of 7500lbs wet and loaded.

I think the dry weight of this trailer is 6,400lbs. For local camping, paper plates, bowls and cups with plastic ware. Minimal clothes, but with food I am hoping to keep weight down to 7,000 - 7,200lbs.

Actually I need to convince the DW that this trailer is too heavy/big because I know I will sneak real silverware onto the trailer with my favorite real plate and bowl. So realistically 7,500 lbs is probably the weight.

Now camping locally I think we can be comfortable enough in a A-Frame trailer like a A-Liner....but DW will not hear of that.

This is going to be a battle of wills.

On 7/1/17, it weighed out at 7000, loaded for a 4 week trip. Mine is a 2014 and constructed much different from the new models. The brochure shows my unit as a dry weight of 6740#

It would appear the new units would be too much for a F150

Wow 7000lbs loaded is great. I pulled my brothers Minnie Plus rear bath 7200lbs over the Cascades from Seattle to Idaho with my little 2016 Silverado 5.3.

My truck actually handled the load quite well, much better than you would ever believe reading these forums. I easily maintained 60mph going up the passes. Best of all if I baby it I can get 20 mpg on regular around town. I really like the Minnies, I'm torn between them and Lance.
