Winterizing.. fridge/freezer open or sealed?

Looking to avoid a stinky fridge in the spring... how do you all winterize your chillers?

Agree with above, and you can put a bowl of baking soda inside.

My refrigerator came with two plastic tabs that you put in the door latches to hold them open a crack. If you have two small pieces of plastic in your refrigerator or a drawer that could be what you have. They are roughly 2.5" x 1.25" (I didn't measure), and have a U shape cut on one half of them.

You have gotten the usual advice, but DW leaves ours open for a few days to completely dry out, then closes it. We have never had a problem doing that, and it makes any local moving for service or fuel or exercise, whatever, easier.

You do need to close the doors before moving the RV.

Fridge running - closed. Fridge empty and not running - open.

It only needs to be a crack. Those tabs I mentioned keep it open about 1/2 inch.

I'm not sure this is a good idea. I use the "Damp-Dri" cannisters in my coach but wouldn't put them in a closed fridge. The cannisters will draw moisture into them but the moisture will still be inside a closed fridge.
The fridge doors don't have to be wide open. Just crack them open a tiny bit.

Clean the fridge and wipe down all surfaces with a mild cleaner like vinegar. Store them with the door propped open.

If you have to close the doors, make sure it is 100% dry and stuff them with dry news paper or place a mesh bag of charcoal in the unit.

Clean and open with the plastic tabs. That means open about 1.5" to 2".
