Sturdier stabilizer jacks made quite a difference on mine. Two of the cheap OEM Lippert jacks failed so I replaced all four last summer with much beefier jacks. They made enough of a difference to change my mind on buying X chalks and the total price was not much different. Two less things to carry and monkey around with too.

You don't need them but it's good to use them as a backup. If by chance you would get a flat tire while parked, the x chocks would be worthless especially if you are parked on a hill.

Just watch out that there are two kinds. I had one kind and the big threaded rod through the middle that tightens/loosens the x-chock mechanism just stripped out on me. I got the other kind and it has been awesome. I have only one x-chock and use it on the side that goes on the leveling blocks. I tighten the **** out of it when I first put it on to account for the tires cooling. And I recently bought a set of those big rubber chocks just for peace of mind. As someone else stated, what if the tire goes flat while parked...I'll be using the rubber chocks as well this year.

Good luck and have fun!

Ken

X-chocks only. The others have no use with the X's, the wheels will not move back and forth with the X's snugged up.

Unless you get a flat while parked. That said, I'v been using x-chock only on the side that goes up on leveling blocks until now. This year I'll start chocking with blocks as well.

IMO- I do not want x-chocks working against the tires when hitching/unhitching. There is some backward movement in hitching as the king pin is captured by the jaws. If you like imparting this force to tires with x-chocks- go for it. Not my tires. That's why I place my rubber chocks first and the x-chocks after unhitching and remove the x-chock prior to hitching. Basically the rubber chocks are first thing in-place and last thing removed.
