Has anyone tried this product that claims to 'unsulfate' and strenghten battery plates? It's $40.00 for a quart: big bucks for snake oil, but a bargain if it actually performs as advertised.

Can't seem to find any actual research documents online or anywhere else. This alone makes me somewhat suspicious.

I think it would be snake oil. I bought someting you put in a battery years ago. It was to make a 3 year old battery like new. The battery was good before in put the gel in it. Two days latter my car would not start. Had to buy a new battery. Not sure of the name, Something like batrecon, But anyway it was junk and might of killed my battery.

Go check the "Battery Minder" from VDC Electronics, they are an actual high frequncy charger maintainer, I leave my RV battery (1998) plugged in all winter with the boat battery in parallel. I also managed to rejuvenate a 3 year old ATV battery that was on its last legs back to about 95% power.

BATTERY TENDER - Try this link. I think the one you're referring to is very similar.
I have one of these little chargers & it works as said. Naturally, I can't see the de-sulphated plates, but I know the batteries are fully charged when I use them. Good luck.

I tried battery equaliser a couple of years ago in my electric car (6) batteries. The stuff did not work and I ended up having to purchase six new batteries @ $125 each.

ThunderRock,

Can the Battery Tender be used to maintain the charge of two 6 volt batteries connected in series?

Thanks,
Paul

I am using the IQ Smart Charger. It plugs into the inverter and will monitor the battery voltage and apply the correct charge to the batteries. It cost 40.00

Don: Actually, that's the "CONverter" that the IQ4 plugs into, and it only interfaces on IOTA converters (with the 2-pair RJ11 jack). But it is a great product- most of the higher capacity IOTA converters have it built in. It turns the converter into what is considered a 3-stage or triple-stage charger.

Before I added it to my converter, within 2 months I had to put almost 2 gallons of water in my (4) 6v's- since then, I haven't had to add ANY water. And I always have full batteries (but I'm plugged in al the time at home).

I've used this product on my 5er for the last 2.5 years & previously on my pop-up for 3 years.

IMHO, the batteries have benfitted.
