On a carrier with a bumper suitable to carry the load, fine, but be sure to lock it down and cover it. If you have the square steel sewer carrying bumper, forget anything that clamps to the bumper.

We carry ours on a Stromberg-Carlson tray mounted on the front of the trailer. Generator sits above the propane tanks. We run it from there too.

I have a pretty sturdy bumper welded to the frame but not enough room between the bumper and the trailer so I had a metal fabricator make me a solid base on which to put my box. Made for my Honda 2200 with removable plates to allow use of the generator while still in the locked box.

I have seen pics posted by some folks who built a slide out platform in the front cargo compartment to carry their Cummins i4500. Pull out the drawer slides and crank it up. I want to do the same…just need to figure it all out from the pics.

Our Champion weighs just 39lbs, so we carry it in the pass thru with an extra 20lb propane tank.

For our 5th wheeler, I carry it in the bed of truck. Usually run it from there as well. On a five month trip to Alaska never removed it from the truck once. Sometimes if we stay in one place for a week or more I may take it out and put it under the trailer's overhang. Locked to a landing gear. I have a folding cover on the truck so it's simple to run it in a rain storm. Just use a standard 30 amp shore power cord and life is good. Have a remote start on the genset.

I also have a six ft. length of silicon exhaust hose I can attach to the geny's exhaust port to get the fumes far away.

We don't dry camp but do carry a Champion 2000 inverter just in case. It rides in the bed covered with a trash bag in a front corner and under the tonneau cover. I consider it a what if need like some fresh water and extra diesel.
We have been in parks that have lost both power or water and sometimes both.

We have a champion that we just thrown in the back of the toy hauler if we need it. We have a front compartment that has the accessories to install a generator but the compartment is soo small, I'm not sure what would fit in there.

we have a Champion 3500 and carry it on the rear bumper of our 27' T/T. i removed the square tube bumper and redid the mounting and moved the bumper back about 7", so it was centered under the gen. it works great. i also made a davit to lift it off and back on if needed. the davit stores in my front storage area on some wall hangers so its out of the way.
