Garmin rv890 rating

I am thinking of upgrading my Garmin 760 to the Garmin rv890 and was wondering who is using this Gps and what do you think of it

I don't have the 890 I have the 785RV but I have heard nothing but good things about the RV890, it's just a little bigger but like everything else you will get use to it.

I've had a few garmin nuvi's over the years and for whatever reason their menu and features just "click" with me. I find them intuitive to use and they just work, from simple navigation to finding rest stops, gas, mcdonalds on the way, whatever.

After a solid FAIL trying to use google to navigate on a trip earlier this year we sprung for a 1090RV. Being familiar with the garmin menu structure it was like a duck to water and for RV use so far it's been a big plus. Here in the mountains it's constantly pinging "sharp curve ahead" so I may have to turn that off but all the features I've liked with nuvi's are there, plus the added features like extensive campground lists. I've added some POI's from POI factory and while it's running an old version of android, I was able to install some APK's and it can run those too. I added an SD card that has some notes and photos of campgrounds and RV parks I have, so it's quickly turning into my RV information and navigation nerve center. Based on just the short time I've had it I'm already thinking about getting the docking mount that I can plug my backup cam into and am experimenting with running OBD monitoring software on it. Next step is to see if any of the TPMS apps will run. So it's turning out that it's way more than just a "GPS", it has the potential of serving multiple uses in one convenient package.

+1 for RV890

Has been solid for 6 + months now. Must keep up with the updates though, they are frequent.

I have been a Garmin user for many years, with cars, motorcycles, boats and RV's.
If you have any issues, Garmin's help desk in Olath, KS is super helpful and Garmin's product is very user friendly.
I recently upgraded my Garmin 2699, which I really liked, to the Garmin RV 890 for a few reasons:
1) Larger screen, easier visibility with larger on screen script
2) Continued to a allow me to use it in the vertical position
3) Allows you to input your RV's specific size for low overhead bridges etc.

Moving to the 890 also meant a beefier mount that I ended up screwing into the sidewall at the far left side of my dash below the driver's side window, a great improvement over the previous suction mount.
It is now positioned solidly, and in a better location for easier accessibility.

Since installing, we have travelled over 7,000 miles through out Canada and the US with zero issues, and I really enjoy the new GPS.

I upgraded from a RV760 to the RV890 about a year ago and love it. It's a different interface since it's now an Android based tablet but so far it has performed flawlessly. The BT connection to a smart phone for live traffic updates and answering the phone through the GPD are nice features.

Has worked flawless for me for almost 2 years now.

Have used Garmin products in boats, planes, cars and RVs over the years. They may not be 100% perfect but are dang near close.

And their customer support has always been top notch

I've used mine for two years now. Excellent unit. Pair it to your phone to get live traffic updates, and when needed, alternate route suggestions.

Does everyone use the Zoe voice? I've been trying to change to a male, or any other, voice since I got the unite 2 years or so ago to no avail. I can change to another voice, but do not get the turn by turn instructions. Support has been promising a patch or fix since then. Nothing yet! Chatted with a tech support agent today and he basically said, "call back Monday".
That is just too reassuring.
The Zoe voice is tolerable, but I paid good money for this, offering the ability to adapt voices to my liking. No go!
Anyone else have any issues?

Went from camping to Rv'n in Jack (our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser). And loving it!

Good info on the 1090RV. I'm about fed up with my 770RV. Has anyone tried to update a 770, or the only way to get the best and newest info is to buy the newest model ? I've been sent down way too many sketchy roads with the 770. This weekend was pretty much the tipping point, sent up a mile-long dirt road with a 12% grade. I mean...Dirt, not gravel and dirt. First gear, 12% grade signs, in a pusher, with the throttle to the floor with a slightly downturned exhaust, on dirt that has seen no rain in weeks is both slightly scary and dangerous. Not to mention the cleaning of the RV, radiator, and engine as soon as we got home. Worst part was my 770 was set to "avoid unpaved roads". After getting to the campsite we went out with our car and found a fully paved and wide road that dropped into the next town and would have added 1.8 miles onto our trip if we went that way. This isn't the first time with this 770, so a little worried about dropping the $$ for the 1090RV...
