has anyone tried Space Bags?
We've all seen the ads a thousand times but do they really work and are your clothes able to recover from the wrinkles? Almost time to store the winter jackets and they seem like a great way to save space when I start fulltiming next year.

Yes, they work. For a couple of times, then our bags broke, or the input valve broke. We got one winter out of them then chalked it up to a bad decision.

Hi decodancer,
I have used the product and like akadeadeye, found they work for a very short while. I tossed them out. Great idea, poor quality product.

Must agree with others, good idea but poor quality. Am usually able to use a rolling pin to force air out of any "ziploc" type closure that has about one inch left open while rolling...just as much space saved.

Same here, had a large comforter in one ,the seal broke and it expanded . I thought I would never get it out of the closet.

The Nays have it
Thanks to all of you for saving me $19.95, guess I'll find another way to fit a lot of stuff into an 18 foot rv.

I have never used them for the RV nor the space bag brand, but I purchased some from Walmart about 7-8 years ago and use them all the time when I travel overseas on missions trips. All the time equals about 14 trips. I have never had a problem with any of them.

I have used Zip-loc bags when I was traveling on the motorcycle. You can force a lot of air out of them. I also rolled everything up tight. Rolling the clothes takes a lot less space for storage. I don't worry about wrinkles.
You could also use the food sealers for smaller objects. That gets the air out completely and will increase storage space.
We did try the "space bags" and like everyone else they did not last very long. I remember one bag had decompressed when stored under the bed and I had to lift the bed so DW could drag the bag out. it was wedged tight.

Space Bags are excellent in conception and practicality however fail in execution. They look great when you vacuum out the air in the bag and it shrinks down to practically nothing but a block. I have found that over time however they all leak. Remember, nature abhors a vacuum.

Tried them once. We were at sea level when we loaded the bags and sucked out the air. Was happy how small they became. Arrived in the Tetons of Wyoming. The little bags were not little any more!

We use the ones from Wal-Mart to store winter clothes. They seem to work well for us.

Tried them a few years ago.. the little silicon check valves got sucked out by the vacuum..Very poor product and I'm amazed they are still in business.
Plastic trash bags and rubber bands work better...

My DW needs to travel with a pillow so I will as well. These "seemed" like a good thing.
I hope the house keeper at the Comfort Inn at Glasgow, Scotland's airport liked an almost new $$ feather pillow!! Good for one trip, might get two - and these were the much vaunted (see above) Wally World version
