Honda Eu2000 k1 Dipstick Thread

I have an 14+ year old honda eu2000 - which I lovingly just went through and it's completely restored. It starts and purrs like it did day one!

The dipstick gasket had dried out and it was leaking oil (offlevel) and that's what started this entire restoration.

I believe that Honda went to a different size/diameter for it's dipstick (I had to order 3 of them off amazon until I found the correct sized oem replacement).

I would like to find a funnel to mitigate the mess that's created when I drain and fill the 2000; However, no matter what I look at online, it's impossible to get one for a honda that's this old!

I took my caliper and I need someone smarter than me to verify the thread of the dipstick.

I believe it's an M18 x 2.0 (Pitch) - but finding a plastic screw/bolt to verify the thread is nearly impossible.

So my two questions:

1. Is the Thread M18 x 2.0?
2. Where does one purchase just a single bolt/screw to verify the thread.

Ultimately, I think I'm going to have to 3d print a funnel - but before I spend the time, I'd like to start with the correct Thread size.

Thanks in advance!

1. I don't have a small honda handy, and even if I did, it might not be the same threads you have.
2. Mcmaster carr is the place to order unusual hardware.

Not what you asked, but I'd probably find a plastic barb to thread fitting that's close enough to make fit with an O ring, and use a vinyl tube and gear oil bottle spout on an oil bottle to fill it. If you want the thread confirmed, a vernier caliper and thread gauge should be enough to confirm the thread size, looking up the sizes online if you don't have a chart.

Take the dip stick to a hardware store. Find a nut that fits the threads. Now you know the size.

You could buy a metric thread pitch gauge to check the thread pitch.

Thanks for the suggestions - I have ordered a nut/bolt made out of plastic from Amazon - which will arrive (hopefully) tomorrow.

I thought about taking the dipstick to a hardware store, but it's hard to find one that has Metric (though I did a google search and found a place I didn't know existed just down the road).

thanks again!

Just in case someone is looking for the answer to this post.

Honda EU2000i K1 series generator Dipstick thread is M20 x 2.5mm.

As Twinboat suggested (my thread gauge was late arriving and I got ants in my pants), I went to my local Ace Hardware, found a Nut and bolt that matched perfectly.

Funny thing though. After I got home and the Thread gauge had arrived, it had the holes for M14, 16, 18 and 20, but 20 seemed to be too large (it was just holes). It also didn't have pitch that was 2.5MM. I'll be returning the Thread Gauge since it doesn't match what I need. Sigh.
