Hose problem on Sani-Con Turbo 600S?

We just got one of these macerator pump kits and I read about problems with the hose springing a leak.

Is this a common problem that requires adding a sleeve to prevent rocks etc from causing a leak or is it a rare problem that can be avoided with careful hose management?

I have a 600S and had a hose rupture but mostly it was my fault, I was pumping it about 150'.
I did put a sleeve over it after I replaced it but I think it restricts the length if you need to use every inch. I've thought about removing the sleeve but so far haven't.

Does having a sleeve affect how tight you can roll up the hose?

I'm not sure how you'd "roll up" the hose, so no.
I lay it in the bottom of wet bay floor.

I guess coil the hose is a better description.

The sleeve should be the length of the expanded length of the hose.

It will not restrict the hose at all. The nylon sleeve actually makes the hose easier to coil since it is more slippery than the hose.
