We just received the Igloo model ICE-101 yesterday so this is about it's short term performance (today). The first positive note is that it performs just as the WalMart ad described it. Very easy to use. Fill the reservoir,turn it on and select small or large cubes. It started producing small cubes in about 7 minutes. In one hour it produced 2 1/2+ cups of the small cubes. Probably enough for 2-3 drinks. So if we start it at 10 am we should have plenty of ice by 5 o'clock somewhere. It was $125 which included sales tax. No charge for delivery to our door. No, I don't work for WM, igloo or yada, yada...

I have the Magic Chef variant and thus far love it. These things are going to take the camping world by storm in the next year or two.

Didn't know Igloo made a ice maker. I looked at a Fridge for the MH that was made by Igloo. Didn't know they made those either.
Times have sure changed. Thanks too this site and it's poster's for more and more info all the time... Love it.

We bought one last summer, works exactly as Pepper stated. Its not as good as the "home" ice maker, but it will do the job. We empty into a ice bin or zip-lock to store the ice and it keeps chugging along

We have had the Igloo icemaker for a couple of years now. We tend to work it very hard as we keep ziplock gallon bags of ice in the freezer, and then also use the icemaker to ice up the beverage cooler. So its not unusual for us to run it for hours on end if we are around and resupplying our ice supplies. We love the convenience of not needing to go find ice somewhere. We bought it on sale for a little over a $100 if I remember correctly--so when it dies at this point we figure we will have easily gotten our moneys worth.

We get one of our Med's delivered to the house and it is in a Styrofoam container that usually has 4-6 Ice paks they are about 6x6 by a inch to two thick.
We lay them out flat on the freezer shelf and use them for the cooler's. Put back in freezer and over night they refreeze solid.
I must say they do get hard as a rock.

They do work well. Just a idea.

Dragging up an old thread.......

We had an Igloo portable ice maker that we loved and it worked perfectly for almost 2 years.
Then on this last trip, it just wouldn't come on when plugged in.

Guess it's time for a new one.
Any tips on getting the new one to last longer? Like, don't ever turn it on it's side or upside down or something? Does that mess with the coolant.
Please pardon my ignorance about ice makers.

so, This will be our forth year using ours..(i had to look at the old post to know that)
I bought the extended warranty, as I was sure it would not last,, but did not need it.
as with all cheep appliances, just buy another and maybe it will last longer.

Many coaches come with a modified sine wave inverter and some appliances don't play well with them. New style electric blankets and some programmable coffee makers come to mind. Other appliances could care less. Samsung residential fridges and TV's for example.

See what kind of inverter you have and if it is a modified sine wave, ask the manufacturer if your Igloo will work nicely with it.

After reading about the Igloo ice maker I bought one from Walmart. Saved a few $$ also. Was only $85. I have run it all weekend here in the house. WOW , it really does pump out some ice . Very happy this review was posted . Thanks.

My only question now is how well will it work outside under the awning ? My plan is to place it on a table out side most the time. Any input or thoughts on this idea?

I saw guys in Phoenix using them outside. I would put a towel over it when not in use.

We just finished with our first trip using the ice maker for 5 days. What a great tip and purchase it is. It really can pump out some ice. We left it out side the entire time and it worked very well. We are very pleased with this gear.
