Inside the propane shroud, zipped to the all-thread retaining rod. Our shroud is white and I believe this provides a similar setup to the National Weather Service which houses temperature and humidity instruments in white structures isolated from top and sides.

The propane flow rate is not high enough to cause one of the 30lb tanks to cold sink the area and if the tank surface did get cold enough to cause convection air current, cold air falls.

I can see a black shroud being a poor location choice though.

I used to have mine in the corner of the lower refrigerator vent area near the grate, then I decided it is more important to monitor wet bay temps than outside temps, so that's where it is now. I can always check my phone for local outside temps.

Old thread, but ......

Ours is on the 5ers frontdrop down frame rail and stuck there with some 3m commercial hook and loop tape which is several times stronger then the Velcro HD brand. Many miles, never moved.

Ours has three remotes plus inside/room temperatures. One remote is in refrigerator, 2nd under hood attached to fiber glass shroud and 3rd in wet bay. Room temperature visible all the time, and the other sensors are visible for about 5 seconds on a rotating sequence.
