Are you opening the app to see them with the camera turned off?

OK, just opened my app and I can view what I previously recorded! Just don't see any way to move them into my Pictures file in the phone.

Nor can I, can't even see them to transfer if I connect phone to pc via us. The only option I get is to delete them

Oh well, gotta go get ready for 11" of snow tonight

I've had the Depstech WiFi camera for a number of years, and use it frequently - at home and in the MH. It needs to have the light on to work effectively (if you aren't sticking it in a dark space, you're not likely to need to use it ), and the battery doesn't last very long with the light on. So, I usually have it plugged in to the USB charging port - either to a wall charger if nearby or to a charging stick. It would all become a tangled mess if I also had to have the camera connected by cable to my phone. I try to place the phone where I can see it while I'm "feeling around" with the camera and have both hands free. With everything connected by wires, it would be difficult to keep the camera where you want it while trying to move the phone around, and vice versa. For my use, the WiFi connection is not gimmickry, but essential.

Good to know! I'm thinking the WiFi will be useful at times!

Have you found any way to transfer video files from the camera to a phone or computer?

No, not really. Mine has the semi-rigid camera cable that plugs into the USB port of whatever I am using to view it and THAT powers the camera and its light for me. That's all. Well there's a little dial to vary the brightness of the camera light but it's tiny and built into the USB connector. Kind of hard to "tangle" one single metal type flex cable. I don't yet see the benefit of extra cables and/or messing with batteries. Or the wifi. Staying open to thoughts on it though. I feel like there's a reason for wifi out there somewhere but for simplicity the single cable plugged in surely has it beat.

I am watching your thread to see how you like that system. I decided to order one that was stand alone and has a card slot to allow me to take pics and video too I think. I have not bothered to add the card to it yet to try that. I mainly wanted it to help me see things that are out of reach. My thought in this purchase was why have two devices to hang onto or keep stable when one will do. I am impressed so far and have used the magnetic tip already too!

But how do you transfer them to the Photos app or to a pc?

Avoid the nicely priced unit from Harbor Freight. The camera cable is so stiff it's virtually impossible to steer it while watching the (rather small) viewfinder. Can't say I know of a good one, but theirs is a waste of money.

I don't find that statement in my manual. I've checked my photo files in the phone and the videos aren't there.

Try looking for the camera apps software on your phone and look in those files for a folder that might have a camera file or do I’m file. John

I can open the app and see the video and photo files that I made. I just can't see any way to transfer them to the phone photo files.

Sorry Joe, I didn’t realize the app doesn’t support PC software. I’m not savvy enough to know if you can transfer from a phones file management program. John
