Love my Honda eu2000 Generator so much, I sold it
We have had a number of Honda EU2000s since they first came out about 17 years ago. We run our whole hunting camp and I also use it to run my motorhome including my AC when we go camping. I have a ‘micro air easy start’ on the 13,500 AC unit. I keep them about 5 to 7 years, then sell for almost what I paid for them and buy a new one.
Honda just quit making the EU2000s and replaced it with a EU2200, so I sold mine and bought the new 2200. Where I bought mine they tested the new against the old one and found that the 2000 actually produced about 1840 watts, and the new one 2430 watts. Although Honda only advertises 1600 and 1800 watts.
Briefly considered several other brands, but decided to stick with Honda because of the durability, economy, quietness, and of course--resale value. I only lose about $43 a year on them.
We have a 6 gallon Extend-a-tank at our camp, so that will run the 2000 for 3.5 days. Bought the extend-a-tank from a guy named Bruce on ebay. He only uses real ‘gas rated’ connections and marine hoses on his stuff. My friend bought one from another guy on ebay and found that the connections were ‘pneumatic’ instead of quality connectors rated for gas.
As a side note, from what I could find, only the Honda and Preditor have fuel pumps built in. So if you plan to use an extend-a-tank on other generators, it will have to be elevated above the generator. Again another reason we chose to stay with Honda.
PS. I have no affiliation with Honda, just a satisfied customer.

Was wondering if I can use a 2200 as a companion to my 2000.

They work great. We had a 1000 for many years then upgraded to a 2000 about 12 years ago. In 30 years of riding atc’s and atv’s in the sand dunes, the Honda’s held up the best there too.
Honda’s R&D is fantastic

PROBABLY--I knew I saw something on this with the papers I got with my 2200, but it took me some time to find it. It was on a supplement that was added to the manual. My guess is that these S #s are for the most recent EU2000s, maybe in the last 10 years or so. I looked up the S #s on my previous 2000s and one was within the range and one was not. I would call Honda customer service if you still have questions.

I love the honda generators too. I have an E3000 that I got used on craigslist a number of years ago that just needed a battery replacement and a new starter. Been using it camping for many years.

I've had a Honda eu1000, then a eu2000 and now have the eu3000. They were all great generators and never failed to start or run. I know what you mean by holding their value. In Oct 2016 I scored an eu2000 for $650 brand new from a guy on an off-roading forum and just sold it last week for $700. Coincidentally I bought my Honda eu3000 used for $700 from a client that changed to the newer Champion 3500 generator. I heard them run side by side and the Champion was much louder. He said it didn't bother him because he was sure it would run at least one AC in his Newmar coach. I doubt the Honda eu3000 will run either of the AC's in my older 2001 Holiday Rambler Scepter but I'm good with running the on-board genset for those.

The e3000i ran my 14,500 btu AC in my old 1999 MH.
It ate up a tank of gas in about 8-9 hours though since I am pretty sure it was running it at least at 80% load. Enough to keep things cool when the sun is up though.
Havent tried it yet in the DP, I will try that this weekend for funsies.

Let me know what you find out. My original owners manual says I have dual 13,500 btu AC's so maybe I can run one.

I gave my 2 Honda 2000's to my son, after buying the Champion remote start triple fuel option. I loved my Honda's but lugging 1 instead of 2 was better for me. Also I really like the fuel option, but the remote starter is what really did it for me. I'm sure the Honda's are better, but they aren't always the best choice for everyone.

I tried to sell my new-in-box EU2000i for months online for around $600 - no takers. It was really confusing why it wouldn't sell (lots of offers for $200) so I just gave it to my father in law. It was a spare, I will always have one of these in my garage ready to go.
On a side note - the one I do use had fuel in it from last year, I guess I forgot to drain it before storing it. Oops. Well, no big deal with a Honda! I tried to start it just to see what would happen with year old gas and in two pulls it was up and running. Amazing.

I've got two 25 year old Honda lawnmowers I use every week. Very few problems over the many years.
I sure wish Honda built motorhomes, I'd be the first guy in line to buy one.

In mine, I always put Stabil in it before shutting it down. That keeps it from varnishing up the carb. And I always try to use 'non ethanol' gas.
Another note on selling, my friend trades his every few years and lists his used one when there is a power outage. People are scrambling around looking for them.
