I'll echo allenb12. The wife and I have the Camco Little Red Fire Pit and thoroughly enjoy it --> https://www.amazon.com/Little-Campfi.../dp/B01MA0MSZM

It's is reasonably light weight and doesn't take up much room in a storage compartment. I carry a small 4.25 lbs. propane tank to "fire" the Little Red --> https://www.homedepot.com/p/Worthing...1149/202034835 This small tank provides plenty of propane for ~4 nights using the Little Red ~4 hours each night.

The Little Red puts out plenty of heat on a chilly night and creates great ambience while drinking a glass of wine while looking at the stars!

We have the outland and have it set up to quick connect to the coach supply. I think ours is the 54k but one. Metal cover and carry strap keep it contained while traveling.Click image for larger version

Another benefit is for those who camp in the West. There are often burn restrictions that prohibit campfires altogether, however propane firepits are usually still allowed. Fire bans have been become almost permanent here in Colorado, so if we didn't have one of these fire pits we'd never be able to have a fire.

I use a Napoleon for grilling that I store in my m/h. I don’t have a lot of room in my cubbies so the fact this comes with a carry bag, I can put it on the rug inside the rig and not worry about causing a stain. The ease of use and superior cooking characteristics makes them my favorite RV grills.

I agree that Napoleon makes a great BBQ. I like how the lid locks closed unlike the Weber Q. However from what I can tell that fire pit is designed to be installed in some sort of enclosure. Does it come with a lid or something to keep the glass "rocks" from spilling out in transit?

We use this one as well. Changed the cord to use the quick-connect on the coach and even have an extension and a "Y" connector that allows us to hook up the Blackstone and the firepit at the same time

Some of the best things about a propane firepit are:
  • Allows us to have a fire when there are burn restrictions
  • Allows us to still hang out outside when raining as we can use this under our awning
  • Uses on-board LP tank, which in our case is 42GA
Ours fits in the Joey Slide and is easy to get in and out.

The Little Red Campfire is 11-1/4" diameter, and it's big brother the Big Red Campfire is 13-1/4" diameter. In case you want to go smaller. I need small, as it's only a van with barely any storage space at all. Camping World has the lowest price on the Little Red, and that's where I got mine. Don't know about the Big Red.

https://www.campingworld.com/camco-p...f&gclsrc=3p.ds

I modified mine to work off the van's low pressure system, at the quick connect fitting under the bumper, since carrying a propane bottle would be a problem, and I have all that propane already onboard that I hardly use anyway.

I just posted a thread about it here, in case anyone wants to do something similar.

I learned a little trick for more warmth on cold nights. If I put out the awning it will bounce some of the heat back down! Game changer!

Outlander 19 in with lid and carry handle. Liked it so much, bought a nat gas version for the back deck on the house. Ban busters for fire restrictions, which are getting very common in BC.

Smile Propane firepit

I will second the little Red Firepit. We love ours - use a portable propane tank or the unit's outside hookup. Great when you are in a campground that does not allow open fires....we always check when we sign in to be sure they are
ok with it though and only found 2 or 3 on our travels that would not allow.

We have the Outland 870 Premium with the optional carry bag and love it.

We use a 12' extension hose and Y-splitter on one of our tanks on the tongue.

Those gas fire pits sound great! Could anyone give me an idea of the approximate propane consumption of the Outland? Doesn't have to be too scientific...about how long at wide open flame would a 20lb tank of propane last?

A gallon of liquid propane contains about 91,500 BTU of energy. A 20 lb tank holds about 4.75 gallons of propane when full (standard 80% fill), so that tank holds about 435,700 BTU.

The fire pit burns propane at a max rate of 58,000 BTU/h, according to the manufacturer, so you'd get 7.5 hours of full-throttle burn time on a full 20 lb tank.

In reality, it might slow down as the tank gets low since there isn't much surface area to absorb heat to evaporate the liquid, especially if it's cold out when you're using it.
