We have a 2007 Holiday Rambler Ambassador that has night/day window coverings that are driving us crazy. The night covering is so rigid that none of the window coverings open without the pleats getting crushed and hanging up when opening.
Our main concern is in the bedroom and the hallway approaching the bedroom the tall windows are 60" H X 30" W in bedroom and 60" H X 60" wide in the hall. Both are about 15" above the floor and have day/night window shades that lift from the bottom. The shades don't lift up without getting all scrunched. If we want to get light and/or open the windows for fresh air it is a pain in the neck. Then if we leave them open we lose all privacy. With the window open and the shades pulled any small breeze causes the shade to billow in and get further creased. Our solution may be to get new window coverings that open from the top and bottom so we can get light up high and keep the privacy down low. We may be able to utilize half of the existing shade for the top half and get a more permanent covering for the lower part.
I have noticed that some IRV2 forum members have mentioned MCD shades,
Cellular Window Shades, Symphony Honeycomb Shades & Insulating Window Treatments (comfort track plus?) and/or using good old fashioned roller shades from WalMart, Lowes, etc. My concerns are:
1) How do household shades/blinds work in an RV?
2) any experience with CellularWindowShades.com? or MCD?
3) Cost - we don't want to throw a lot of bucks into this at the time as we have other things we are planning to do to the MH
Right now I think that we will either get top/bottom opening shades or else get two shades for each window - one for the upper part and one for the lower part.
Additionally, I am thinking that the cellular shades are good as they will provide some insulation.
Any comments on the above will be appreciated.
