I'm with PA Belote.

The manual is very specific in my roof's case. Wash, (I use Borax) and that's it. Remember that anything with petroleum distillates voids your warranty.

Cheers

Lew,

We are fulltimers so our rig gets lots of exposure to different conditions. We do exactly what you do. I rarely wash the roof - really only if there are LOTS of seeds and droppings. After 2 years the roof has a nice coating of oxidation on it. And yes, it looks dirty - but who cares. You can not see it, since I have aluminum that wraps the transition from my gel-coat sidewalls to the flat of the roof where the rubber is.

I rarely have any black streaks, although occassionally I have to shoot some black streak cleaner on where my front gutters expel the water.

The Dicor people talk about roofs in FL that have been on for 30 years with no cleaning. And no leaking. I think I will leave my roof alone!

One thing that cleaning does is gets you on the roof so you can inspect the sealing....don't forget to rechaulk as necessary.

Minnesota Roofing, the maker of Rubber Shield, is selling Rubber Shield rubber roof protectant kits on eBay.

I don't know how many units they plan on selling, so check it out before it is too late.

Here is a link to their latest auction:

It has been three years since the original post on this product. I think an update on the condition of the roof would be nice. My fear was that after time, blotching would occur as different portions wore off. Of course if one was diligent on keeping it up every two years you would not really have that effect.

After this amount of time, have additional coats been put on or is the original coat still on? How is it looking now after this period has past?

It would be nice to have a follow up on this product.

My RV sits under a tree also. I do clean it with spic and span about once a year. As far as black streaks are concerned, the gutters prevent them. Why not just get a gutter kit is you do not have gutters??
