Can someone lead me in the right direction on which brand and style of surge protector, I need for my fifth wheel?

Welcome!

Most that use them have the Progressive Industries Electrical Management System (EMS). It is a surge protector but also protects from low voltages and mis-wiring. Most surge protectors are single purpose and singe use. They are either wired into the unit or can be plugged into the pole. They are available in 30 and 50 amps.

We have a progressive system and last month it "saved" our coach from a incorrectly wired outlet at a campground.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I highly recommend the Progressive Industries EMS series protectors. For 50A that would be the PT50X or the HW50C, depending on whether you want hardwired or portable. They protect you against any electrical problem, not just surges. They have a lifetime warranty. You will pay $250-$350, but it will be the best money you have every spent!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
