Truma AquaGo Instant Hot Water Heater

For the past several months I have been testing the Truma instant hot water heater in our 2015 New Horizons. You can read the test report HERE.

I like this unit a lot, and it solves many of the known issues with instant hot water heaters.

I'm not affiliated with this product in any fashion.....

May I ask what you paid for the unit?

I wonder if one could install on the return loop a Agua hot type heat register with a muffin fan for a single point heat source in cool weather.

Not a good idea since that would cause the unit to run all the time in a mode it wasn't designed to work in. In fact, one of the prohibited uses listed in the manual is space heating so it's a No Go from the Get Go.

The Truma is a dealer only item. Check here for your local dealer

Made our decision

We recently purchased a new WGO Navion.
We were looking over the differences between a 2016 and 2017
The dealership has some good incentives on the 2016 and were
leaning towards that model.
There was several items that changed our thoughts to the 2017
the biggest one was it has a Truma Aqua Comfort system
I had studied this model for a year after talking to the Truma
reps at a Rally. It's a well designed system and works as stated.
In Comfort mode it produces a steady stream of very hot water.
The only downside is keeping my wife from taking longer showers
We only turn it on a couple of minutes prior to needed Hot Water
and shut it off immediately afterwards.
I have not seen any noticeable use of propane.
Moving to a smaller MH has been a adjustment but the Truma
has helped make life easier

Great review Jack,

I've read a great deal of your blog work and very much appreciate not only your experience but your objective technical documentation.
We ordered our DRV Suite equipped with the Truma AquaGo on demand and our experience thus far has mirrored your review exactly. We are very pleased with every aspect of the AquaGo.

Thanks, and be well.

I scoured the net for a price on these things and came up empty. Can someone please post a price for one of these units?

unit hums for 10-20 seconds, tries to fire, repeatedly

Great review. many searches come up similar citing "flawless" operation - but we recently took delivery of a 2017 fleetwood 40G and the Truma seemed to heat water for only 10 to 15 seconds then went cold. Hot (or even warm) showers were not possible. With the unit turned on we noticed a "humming" sound in the BR that lasted 15-20 seconds then stopped briefly and repeated, constantly. We found the humming to be coming from the Truma unit and it stopped when we turned it off (both from inside or at the unit). Upon closer inspection I noticed that when the unit was "humming" there was a faint smell of propane coming from the vent at the unit each time it ran through the cycle. We have googled and cannot find another thread with this issue and wondering if anyone has had similar issues? We are currently in for warranty service and having it checked out by the dealer - and will post another reply when (if) the issue is diagnosed and remedied. thanks again for the post - and article.

Pghbob,
Does the INSIDE control nob blink twice then go off, blink twice and go off, etc? IF so that indicates some fault. Go OUTSIDE and look at the RED light that will be blinking right under the power on and off switch. It blinks a series of short and long lights to indicate the problem. There is a chart in the owners manual to "decode" the series of blinks. I recently had an issue when starting the heater for the first time after winterization. No hot water at all. The code told me there was no flame detected. Powered unit complety off. Turned the master propane switch off then back on, lit a burner on the stove to confirm propane flow, hit,the power switch on the outside of the Truma, turned the dial on the switch on the inside of the coach and hot water. I hope this helps.
