Wacko A/C silencer

For those of you that have the Wacko silencer installed, is it effective in cooling the cockpit area. With no dump vent there is a definite loss of air flow forward especially if you have an overhead bunk blocking the forward ceiling A/C ducts.

It does nothing for cooling. It simply redirects the air intake to help reduce the noise. My front AC vents in our A do not put out a lot of air. It is a bit strange that some vents work better than others. None are blocked and I have spent hours inspecting them an modifying them for maximum air flow.

As Myron said, the Wacko has nothing to do with airflow through the ducts!

The Coleman Mach 8 ducted system uses the Chill Grill intake and two dump vents for air flow (a/c cooled air). The wacko does away with the dump vents and reduces noise at the intake. The volume of air increases in the duct system. Without the forward cool air dump and an overhead bunk blocking cockpit ducts does the cockpit stay cool? If not, what have you done to cool the cockpit area?
Thanks,
Glenn

Sounds like this product is not for you. However we full time in a 42 footer and the front glass will allow tremendous heat in if we don't cover the outside. One AC up front of the coach struggles to keep up and often we have the rear one on with its fan on high as well as a fan on the floor to move air forward.

We also use a vertical fan in the front area to move air about. Parking with the front away from the sun is always preferred but not always possible.

The air dump feature was ok but the noise is just horrific. We can watch the tv without chasing the volume up and down with the covers.

My wife and dog love The RV A/C Silencer from WackO products. This is a great addition to enjoying camping. When I ordered it I see that they have 3 different kits now. They will fit Dometic, Coleman (airxcell) and GE. We now own 2 kits. Great People that believe in a 100% made in USA product.

We have a silencer installed on a Colman Mach unit (sounds like what you have). Since the dump vents are no longer available, the living area (including the cockpit) does not get cooled as quickly. The trade off is that the noise is not as bad. The living area does still cool down quickly enough for us and we live in Florida. YMMV.

My Coleman Mach 1 power saver is quieter after installing the Wacko a/c silencer. I am a satisfied customer. I never opened the center dump vents anyway.
