We use water only from our fresh tank, I use bottled water to drink. From RVWaterFilter.com I bought a 3 canister header and also a 10 Micron inline sediment filter to use straight off the hose bib before the 3 canister header. I have a 1 micron washable pleated filter in the first canister followed by a .5 micron carbon block. I leave the 3rd for special filters like one that removes Iron for in the midwest. We also have a .5 micron for the dedicated water tap at the sink.
I usually get a lot of stares and gawks when I set up the filter system - hey, I believe you can't have too much filtration. I fill the tank and then take the filters out to let them dry. If the washable one needs cleaning I do that. When everything is dry (a couple hours) I put the filters back in the canisters and pack the filter system back in the basement. I repeat this every week.
I use the fresh tank so I know when I have a leaking system - the pump would be running.

We use exclusively from the fresh water tank for all uses, including drinking.[Consistent water pressure for showers and doing laundry using the 12v pump]
Use the 20 micron sacrificial Camco filter, followed by a 5 micron and a .5 micron canister style filters, then run thru a 5,000 capacity [before needing a re-gen] water softener

Clear Source Ultra & On The Go!
My wife refused to drink or cook with the campground water here in Florida our first few trips because it is so hard. She preferred bottled water.
I added the Clear Source Ultra (3 stage) and On The Go water softener. Now, we no longer bring bottled water. With the softener, we also have less worry about the washer building up scale; the bath soap and shampoo also suds now.
I paid about $500 for the filter (5 micron, .5 micron, and .2 micron stages) and another roughly $300 for the softener.
We also have a long fresh water hose to connect to a Y on the output of the softener for when we need to fill the freshwater tank. That way all of our water is filtered and softened.
Enjoy your fresh, clean water!

I'm looking at this new Blu Tech R3 water filtration system, but it's pricey. I'm not sure it's worth it, but if it does everything we'd like it to do, (like using water straight from taps) then it might be worth it.
Has anyone here tried this new system, or what have you been using that allows you to drink from the faucets?

I just use a jumbo whole house cannister system from the RV Water Filter Store. The filter is a 5 micron carbon block. -Great tasting water and coffee! https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/o...er-no-fittings

We always drink the water from our tanks for 40+ years. when filling up at the house we don't do anything from our soften well water. When traveling most of the time we use the camco type hose filter and a carbon filter on the kitchen cold water side. If we see any signs of hard water we use a water softner and an addition in line filter.
We seem to manage well. We dont have water spots in the shower and we do a lot of rec.gov and state park. It's been years since I had to scrub off spots and mineral build up.

It's not. But since you posted this in October you may have already bought it.
Anyway, for everyone else, instead of paying $500 for a 3-cartridge filter system, buy a reverse osmosis system and REALLY filter your water. BTW, the waste water from an RO system can be plumbed right back into your fresh water tank, so there's no waste.
Here's a RO system that also includes a UV light filter for about $300 -- iSpring 7-stage RO system with UV.

We have this one…
CLEARSOURCE ULTRA RV WATER FILTER... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SX5RPG6...p_mob_ap_share
Works well and the filters are good for a couple thousand gallons depending on the source.
That feeds into our water softener and we have a whole house filter as well.
Drink from any faucet, fridge water connection, and we can use the ice maker in the fridge.
Also use it to fill the freshwater tank wherever we are before traveling to the next stop.
