$20 with ATT Mobley still good?
I still have this grandfather plan, though I haven't used it much. I recently got it out and plan to set it up in a place where I'll need occasional Internet access.
It's still working, but it goes off frequently as it has done before. It seems I'll have to unplug/replug to turn it back on every now and then.
Shall I get the Netgear Nighthawk, or any other equipment that will help?
Any other better options?Tips?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Put the SIM in a better mobile router. The original Mobley device had a firmware upgrade a few years back that then kept it from remaining on constantly.
My SIM has been in a Netgear router of one sort or another since back in 2018 or so. Service still works, in the last year it went from Yellowstone to the Keys with the only service interruptions being in areas where there was no ATT service.

We still use ours, we have 2 one with the SIM in a Netgear 815S and one in the original Mobley. The 815s lives in the motorhome at the storage shed and provides remote monitoring and when traveling in it. The original Mobley lives in my notebook computer bag with a USB power adapter so I can always have internet available.

It really depends on where you are, I was using mine a few months ago at a hotel in Houston and could only get around 3-4 mbps down, though usually I see something between 10-20 mbps, which I find fast enough to stream videos, etc.

The 4G only ATT Connected Car Data Plan should be usable for a few more years so far as having coverage and fast enough data speeds to support video streaming. Each year there will be less and less devices without 5G on the ATT network and at some point in a few years ATT will start cutting down on 4G cell site signals. The total phase out of 4G should be at least 5 years away.
I have moved my SIM into an unlocked Alcatel 4G hotspot, this eliminates all the shortcomings of the Mobiley. That said, I still have to disconnect and reconnect from time to time (about daily) to reset the 4G data connection to get the fast speed. This is either due to ATT traffic control hardware or due to the network changing the cell connection to one that is less optimal.
I also have a WeBoost RV which improves signal on the ATT 4G bands that makes a huge difference in coverage areas with lower signal strength.

I've had our Mobley Sim in a Netgear MR1100 Nighthawk for several years, if you have never moved your sim card out of the Mobley, you will need to call At&t and get your PUK codes. On a recent 6 week trip in Florida with that At&t setup plus also a Inseego M3100 5G hotspot useing the legacy Verizon pUDP sim, the Verizon setup was usually the fastest even though most of the time Verizon would throttle it down to 30mb/s download speed. In Gulf State Park in Alabama where there are 480 campsites sometimes Verizon would tank and sometimes At&t would tank probably due to cell tower traffic congestion. Haveing some redundancy from two different internet sources when that happened helped and honestly also the Weboost Reach cell booster giving us a leg up (i know people say a cell booster won't help when there's congestion, but that Weboost Reach does it's magic for me even when i already have 2 or 3 bars of cell signal but unusable internet speed it will sometimes make an improvement, esp. upload speed). As people are transitioning to Starlink, cell boosters are showing up on the preowned market. I bought a complete Weboost Reach RV setup as a spare one for $75.
