Conversely, I've found places where I had poor Verizon with good AT&T.
I subscribe to the same philosophy. We have both an unlimited Verizon prepaid plan and an AT&T. Even when we're not traveling it's nice to have redundancy. At these prices I can afford to "be a sport" and have both.

We have discussed the possibility of having both carriers and have decided that in the rare cases when we don't have internet, we can just read a book, talk to each other about our day or go to bed earlier. LOL I do have a part time job that requires internet, but I have never run into a situation where I couldn't get to a location that had good enough service for me to work a couple of hours to do my job.
I am thinking I may upgrade to a Mofi4500 mobile router with an external antenna to boost weak signal reception. Maybe a nice Christmas present.

Got my router from Amazon last night and set it up this morning. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer but the set up was super simple. I can see why gsgriffen likes it so much. I am sitting here with my Visible phone tethered to the router getting over 30mbs down and up. I expect the data speed will fluctuate with network congestion, etc. I never get that kind of speed from my T-Mobile hot spot and the coverage isn't as good as Verizon. I really want to thank gsgriffen for all the effort he has devoted to helping us out. If you are like me and have limited funds, this is a very good solution for ensuring my wife has access to Facebook and email while traveling. A happy wife makes for a happy life!

Safe Travels and God Bless all if you.

Has anyone connected a USB C to HDMI Adapter to the R2 phone to watch video on the "big screen" without teathering? I thought it may give better thru-put for watching 4K.

Yes you can, it is a pre-paid service, only pay when you need it. If you suspend for less than 2 months, simply logging into the app and paying again will get you back up. I am not sure about a suspension longer than 2 months. You may need to re-activate/get a new SIM.

Thanks for mentioning Party Pay.

A quick bit of research shows it does indeed drop your monthly bill from $40/mo to $25/mo. You need 3 friends, or strangers, to join a party (max 4 per party) and you get the discount. None of the party members can see anyone else's account details or info, and each pays directly to Visible still.

Here's the official Visible page for Party Pay: https://www.visible.com/party-pay

[Mod Edit]

But I did get that nifty little router and within 3 minutes I have Wireless wifi thru my tethered Motorola G7....

I have a jetpack here also connected and did a few tests , The signal varies but so far in the last 3 weeks the Visible has been better....

I am in a remote area, I have line of site to the tower from 2nd floor,,, fall back to 3g is alot less with this service

Party Pay appears to be a no brainer. You don't need a new account, use your existing, every member of the party (up to 4) pays the same monthly fee which is reduced from $40 by $5 for every member of the party. Your monthly fee could be as low as $25.

I did mine for 2 months and just didn't pay the next time the bill was due. Was testing it out, works good as my Verizon service which i pay $178 for 2 phones. Working on getting 2 new / used S9s and some friends, have yhe R2 phone its ok but for a cheap phone but lacks memory, might just add a third account so i can keep it tethered to the router all the time for home Wi-Fi, all i have at home for phone internet.
