It's not clear if it's deprioritization or a hard throttle.

If you go here https://www.consumercellular.com/shopping/choose/plan and select the unlimited plan it says:

"On unlimited data plans, access to high speed data may be reduced after 50GB"

That sounds like deprioritization.

But go here https://www.consumercellular.com/hel...s-and-usage/98 and it says:

"For customers enrolled in our largest data plan, access to high speed data will be reduced if the plan’s data limit is exceeded"

That sounds like a throttle (my bolding). If nothing else it's careless and ambiguous but the few reports I can find in Reddit etc suggest it's a hard throttle.

"Visible Unlimited Plan" means the old plan.

I've been away for about six months and if I go through the motions to signup now I get the discount in the cart.

I got back on and chatted for a "while" would not give me the plus plan for $35/mo. I started a new account (new number) and got the plus plan for $35/mo. SIM on it's way for the existing phone.
Cancelled the service I had. Lost that number (not a concern to me since I use this divice purely for hotspot use).

My desire to switch hinges around plans to drive to Alaska in June, thus the plus plan and the unlimited data and stuff in Canada.

Yeah, their web site is very confusing in that way. I wouldn't trust any answer you received from Customer Service either. Basically you'd just have to try it and see what really happens after 50 GB.

Verizon Jetpack Config

I had been using my Visible Party Pay plan and SIM in/on a Verizon 7730 Jetpack. Was working well, switched to the new unlimited basic plan with no problem; just put the new SIM in the jetpack and changed a bit of the config as noted back aways in this thread.
So, now, Visible is doing enhanced login authentication (i.e. sending a text code to the visible phone number)! How are folks dealing with that when they want to access their account? PIA to switch the SIM back to a phone to get the code #.

Are you sure that you can't receive a text on the Jetpack? This suggests you can if it's the same model. https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-209165/

Putting the SIM in a hotspot / router device is not really what this thread is about. That's quite a different situation than tethering to a phone.

I use an old 7730L as a hotspot and text messages are easily displayed on its screen.

Maybe you should go back to the first post in this thread and follow it for a few posts - the OP was using a Jetpack and configuration, along with a router.

Doc - Maybe I overlooked the text ability of the Jetpack. I'll check on that, thanks.

For anyone else who recently "upgraded" to the new Visible plans, did you need to change your APN to vzwinternet? If I try using VSBLINTERNET, it never connects. I'm using a Pepwave Max Transit DUO.

Worst cust. service in history. I want to change to a cheaper plan. They can't do it in chat. [Moderator Edit] good is cust. service. Then I go to the site and click on edit plan and it' doesn't load. I'm going to send them $25 for mext mo. and see if they get in touch.

When I upgraded the APN on my phone changed from VSBLINTERNET to VZWINTERNET. I'm assuming you are plugging the SIM into the Pepwave. I don't know about the settings on the Pepwave but assume that you would have to change the APN to VZWINTERNET.

I signed up for the Unlimited Plan four years ago and need help with the newer plans. I lost my original R2 a few months ago an started using my wife's old Iphone and since then things have gone downhill. What are the pros and cons of switching to the new network at either $25 or $35 per month? I'm old enough where I start getting confused with all the options and sure would appreciate any help you can offer.

Many Thanks, Brucev

To be honest I don't see much, if any, peeformance difference between the two new plans. Maybe my location? I switched to the Visible + plan to get the Canadian access.

Jerome,

Did you see any performance improvements at all. Asking you specifically because I also am using mine (not yet upgraded) SIM in a MAX Transit.

Apologies if you’ve already answered this question.
