Windows does not seem to recognize the new 4gb Fash Memory when using either a USB port on one PC, or the SD memory card slot on another PC. 2 GB flash drives and smaller work fine.

The new 4gb Fash Memory card does work in the camera and printer’s SD memory card slot.

My PC’s are running Windows XP Home edition, and have all the latest updates applied (via the Microsoft update tool). Guessing it missing a specific update

Has anyone seen and resolved this problem?

FYI, I checked PNY's site for help, didn't find an answer.

If you are talking a flash memory USB memory, I have never had a single problem using a 4 GB. I assume that you have assured that you have made sure that you are plugging the memory stick in correctly oriented.

Hope this gets you an answer!

I use a Corsair 8gig usb on both a XP SP3 machine and a Vista SP1 with no issues.

Try to plug the camera with the card in it to the computer with the USB cable and see if the computer recognizes it that way.

You need a new reader that can read these new cards. $9.95 at Radio Shack. I have a laptop and lazer printer that can't read these new cards and sadly there isn't a firware upgrade available. The "new" reader solved my problem.

I second what JCM said.

Thanks for the repies, I’ll pick up a new reader and give it a try..

FYI:
- The new printer can read this card, the PC can read it, sees the printer as a ‘camera’
- If the camera itself is connected through it’s USB connector, the PC can’t ‘directly’ see the flash drive
- The PC/Camera software can read the flash drive when the camera is connected via it’s USB cable (but I don’t like using the software that came with the camera).

JCM, Thanks again…

I purchased a new card reader, one that interfaces with SD-HC Flash Memory, as soon as I plugged it into the USB slot, the PC recognized the new Flash Memory. All is well..
