I would recommend the Spruce router which is slightly more expensive than the Poplar but which has significantly better capabilities.

But it doesn't have the SIM card option

I'll wait for the release of Aspen although I don't think the tethered Visible iPhone will use the higher data throughput rate.

Both Spruce and Aspen have the same processor. The quoted throughout speed for both devices is the same. I think you may have looking at the throughput speeds for the Converge rooftop units rather than the indoor routers. I have attached a screenshot that provides a comparison of the indoor routers.

I assume you recommended the Spruce router over the Poplar, because the Poplar is slower. I want the LTE option, so the Aspen will be win, win.

I can't blame you. Of course, you could also consider a rooftop router with up to two LTE modems.

I have but the Visible sim doesn't like LTE Modems

(Of course, it goes without saying that either or both hotspots could be connected by WiFi and the Load Balancing would still work.)

Might you consider starting a new thread for the promotion of the wifiranger and the setup and the config and the options and the new devices? .....it is getting to be a little bit of a tangent. While related, to the original post, you may find a separate post be better to continue that discussion.

I do have a separate thread in which I explain how Load Balancing works. That thread is here: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f53/provi...cy-476151.html

However, my posts in this thread were intended to support the discussion of having multiple internet connections to offset some of the limitations of Visible. They were not intended as a WiFiRanger sales pitch which is a key reason why I emphasized that WiFiRanger is not the only router brand capable of performing Load Balancing.

You've done an excellent job of informing the RV community about an attractive cellular alternative. But, considering how long the thread now is, it's not surprising that it is meandering a bit. That's natural and is difficult to prevent IMO.

Joel. It's really not a problem and there will be tangents and I'm not bothered at all. I don't own this thread Your discussion is helping people, but I could imagine it expanding to ideas, support, new products and growing deep legs of its own. You might consider immediately directing people to your other thread so pages can be added on the topic there.

I am thinking about the people that come to a thread like this and jump to the last few pages to try to figure out what this is about. Many won't read the first page. Thanks for creating a new thread. I'll go check it out. Feel free to keep linking back over to that for continued discussion on the topic.

If you are coming to this thread and trying to find the answer, it is on POST #10 on the first page. It is actually right now $25/month for the same service when you join a Party Pay. Please, no discussion about Party Pay on this thread. It appears to be against the rules.

I got my Visible going but it is too slow to use with the router. I am only getting 1-3 MBPS and the ping is over 200. Occasionally I get 10-12 but still at 200 ping. I tried outside, no better. The Verizon tower is less than 2 miles away. Only get 1-2 bars. When it jumps to 3-4 bars speed picks up.
The ZTE seems like a nice $50 phone but maybe that is the problem.

Your problem is 1 to 2 bars. Distance to the tower doesn't matter if there is a lot in the way. Walk inside a thick steel building and might get zero bars.

Time of day does matter too, as most will attest. Dinner time seems to be the congested tower time for most. It does change from place to place and also why some get a range booster, like the WeBoost

I am set up in your group and my service matches my regular Verizon phone. Location Location Location.

It really does mater where your using the phone. A stronger signal allows a broader connection for faster speeds and then your sharing the bandwidth.
